After the success of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, many fans are already anticipating the director’s next project. Unfortunately, producer Emma Thomas, his wife, has upsetting news. The filmmaker may take his time before he gets to produce another masterpiece.
It is evident that Nolan worked tremendously hard on Oppenheimer, and with that kind of massive production and award-winning storyline, he would need new creative inspiration to work on his next endeavor.
Christopher Nolan On His Next Hollywood Project
In an interview with Empire via Twitter, producer Emma Thomas revealed they have not started any new project nor thought of new concepts to bring to the screen.
I would say it’s very exciting. This is the moment where the possibilities are sort of limitless, we haven’t started thinking practicalities, or anything. Oppenheimer was so absurdly successful and we feel like we have an opportunity.

Similarly, in another interview with Christopher Nolan via Metro, he stated how he can’t worry too much about his upcoming project beating or surpassing the success of Oppenheimer. “I get bored very quickly. I like to keep working so it’s exciting to think about what’s next,” he shared.
He remarked that once he starts to deal with his new movie, he won’t be thinking of trying to live up to the expectations that Oppenheimer has achieved. “I think we’ve all been thrilled with the success of Oppenheimer, but you certainly wouldn’t go into the next project hoping to replicate that kind of success,” the filmmaker added.
Nolan and his team did not expect Oppenheimer would blow up the box office as well as headline the news. They did not anticipate the money it would earn, so it’s no use thinking about all this stuff for his next move.
As of the moment, there are only rumors about Nolan’s upcoming film so it might be true that they have not discussed anything behind doors.
Christopher Nolan Is Rumored To Helm The Prisoner Remake
In a report from Variety, the outlet shared that Nolan is currently being eyed to direct “a remake of the mystery-thriller ‘The Prisoner,’ based on the 1960s TV series created by and starring Patrick McGoohan.”
Nolan was previously attached to the project in 2009 but was later dropped after AMC released a similar production starring Jim Caviezel, Ian McKellen, and Ruth Wilson. The source continued, “Others say he will begin writing a new screenplay” since awards season is now over and he’s got more time to brainstorm a new franchise.
It remains a mystery what Nolan has in store for his avid fans, and since the filmmaker never gives half-baked outputs, it’s understandable if it will take him years to come up again with another concept.
The British director has a diverse and impressive catalog of projects under his belt, and some of his movie credits are the famed The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Tenet, and Dunkirk. These are all available to watch on Prime Video along with his latest biopic thriller, Oppenheimer.
