God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn are two of the most highly wanted PlayStation exclusive titles to be launched on PC. In the recent PlayStation State of Play on May 30, Sony finally confirmed the arrival of these two titles on PC.
God of War Ragnarok is coming to PC on September 19, 2024. On the other hand, Until Dawn hasn’t yet got a confirmed release date on PC but is probably going to launch sometimes in the fall. But the question is, will all the fans be able to play these two titles on their PCs?
God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn Will Need a PSN account to Be Played on PC

According to a post in a PlayStation Blog, to play these highly anticipated titles on your PC, you will need your PSN account linked to your Steam account. The Steam pages of these two games clearly state this as well.
This decision from Sony looks a bit strange, as both of these titles are single-player narrative-driven games without any online aspect. This is a clear indication that probably all the upcoming PlayStation first-party titles that are coming to Steam will need PSN accounts to be linked as well to make them playable on PC. Fans are absolutely not taking this decision in a good way.
When will game companies stop doing this…

However, this decision has become a topic of hot debate as Sony has cut down on several regions that have access to Steam but can’t create a PSN account. That means not everyone is going to enjoy these long-awaited titles on their PCs.
Is Sony Repeating the Helldivers 2 Mistake?
![Helldivers 2 doesn't need a PSN account anymore to be played on PC.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/31202528/Untitled-22-1024x578.png)
God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn are not the only games that needed PSN account linking. After Helldivers 2‘s immense success, Sony didn’t want this to be restricted to consoles. That’s why they decided to bring this title to PC. However, they enforced PSN accounts to be linked with the game to play it on PC.
But the consequences were not very favorable for Sony. This decision sparked massive backlash, leading to over 200,000 negative reviews on Steam over the course of a weekend. The controversy didn’t stop there. The fire sparked so much that Steam had to issue refunds to the players residing in the 180 countries where the game was delisted from the platform as there were no PSNs.
Helldivers fans — we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.
We’re still…

After so much heat, Sony decided to withdraw their previous decision and announced that Helldivers 2 wouldn’t need PSN account linking anymore.
So, what do you think? Will Sony reconsider their decision and repeat another Helldivers 2 for God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn? Let us know in the comment section.
