The hype around the upcoming Call of Duty title Black Ops 6 is at an all-time high with the reveals from Activision. Fans are excited about the game and are expecting it to be one of the best games in the popular franchise, as well as a defining title in the popular Black Ops series.
The game is still without a launch but is set to release this year across platforms, including Xbox Game Pass, on day one. While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass is a first, the upcoming title also represents another franchise first from Activision Blizzard.
Activision Credits All Call of Duty Studios for the Upcoming Game
Black Ops 6 is set to get a full reveal on June 9th at the direct presentation following the Xbox Games Showcase. The game is being developed by Treyarch and Raven Software as lead developers, but Activision has done something very unique in crediting the developers of the game.
On the game’s Steam page, Activision has credited all the studios that work on Call of Duty games. These studios include Treyarch, Raven Software, Beenox, High Moon Studios, Activision Shanghai, Sledgehammer Games, Infinity Ward, and Demonware.
Although it is known that one or two studios often lead the development of a game and a few studios act as supporting developers, something like this has never been done before by Activision. This makes sense, as the game has had the longest development time of any title in the franchise.
For those confused by this.
Every COD has a lead studio:
Infinity Ward (Modern)
Treyarch (Pre-Modern)
Sledgehammer (Future)Regardless who the lead is, the remaining studios support in various ways. Often times helping build MP maps or taking on specific single player… https://t.co/D7x2NPXTXJ

The game was in development for four years, and while the lead developer is Treyarch, all the studios under the Activision umbrella have supported the game’s development. This is a good thing, as now all studios get credit for their contribution to the game rather than the lead studio.
The Support Studios Contribute to Various Important Aspects
To put things into context for those confused, every Call of Duty game has a lead studio: “Infinity Ward is lead on modern games, Treyarch is lead on pre-modern games, and Sledgehammer is lead on future games. The support studios often contribute to creating multiplayer maps or “player-specific missions.”
Raven Software has sometimes been responsible for full features. Demonware has supported almost all games with infrastructure resources. The lead studio is responsible for the main story and settings of the games and is the creative lead on future game decisions.
The campaign and Zombies mode in Black Ops 6 are expected to be the best in the franchise. The ‘open your eyes’ teaser video features several political figures, including former US presidents such as George H. W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The trailer also shows former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and his invasion of Kuwait in 1990, and the response by the US-led alliance. It seems like the game is set in the 90s and could feature one of the best-ever campaigns in history, and the support studios seems to have played a major role.
