The Xbox Games Showcase, along with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, is all set to take place on Sunday, June 9. Xbox has confirmed that this event will be their first Showcase featuring games from their portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to titles from their third-party partners.
Microsoft has many highly-anticipated games lined up but players have been eagerly waiting for this one Blizzard title to get an Xbox release: World of Warcraft. Since Blizzard Entertainment has been acquired by Microsoft, players hope to see the game on Xbox Game Pass soon.
There are speculations that this announcement will be made at this year’s Xbox Game Showcase event as players got a hint last month about World of Warcraft‘s console release.
Will Xbox announce a World of Warcraft Xbox release at the Xbox Games Showcase event?
The 2024 Xbox Games Showcase event is all set to start soon and the expectations are quite high. Some rumors suggest that Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft will be announced for PC Game Pass/Console at the event and if this turns out to be true, it would be very profitable for Microsoft given how popular World of Warcraft is.
Chances are high as Blizzard Entertainment is now Microsoft’s property and with all the best resources, it could be possible that they have created the console version of the popular MMORPG game. The game was released in 2004 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Since then, it has had nine major expansion packs. At the 2023 BlizzCon, Blizzard announced that three more expansions- The War Within, Midnight, and The Last Titan, will be released.
Last month, World of Warcraft Vice President and Executive Producer Holly Longdale appeared for an interview with Eurogamer and hinted that the game might be coming to consoles. When asked about the game’s Xbox release, she claimed that “nothing’s impossible.” Let’s hope fans get to see some sort of announcement related to this game at the Xbox Games Showcase.
The Xbox Games Showcase will be followed by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct
There is a lot of excitement about the Xbox Games Showcase as the next Call of Duty game will be revealed right after the event during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct. The game is set in the 1990s in the Gulf War era, with well-known political figures like Bill Clinton, George Bush, Colin Powell, Saddam Hussein, and Margaret Thatcher. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which has the longest development cycle in Call of Duty history, is expected to be released later this year.
