Sadly, the film tanked, as according to The Numbers, the film only grossed $68.3 million at the box office.
With $75 million going into the production of the film and the harsh reviews of the critics, it made Warner Bros. hope that, at the least, the film could do is break even. Ultimately, the film failed, resulting in a loss of $6.7 million.
The 1998 film was labeled as a fun, feel-good, rom-com film featuring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, but it was the turbulent tones and dramatic shift in narratives that caught some fans off guard.
