In the recent PlayStation State of Play, Astro Bot completely stole the show. This is going to be Team Asobi’s biggest title and the sequel to the 2020 game Astro’s Playroom, which was included for free with every PlayStation 5 sold.
Despite numerous huge titles in the Xbox Games Showcase, this upcoming title from Team Asobi might have edged over every other game. And the recent list of wishlisted games from IGN has proved it.
Astro Bot Tops the Chart in the Most Wishlisted Titles
According to recent data from IGN Playlist, which is a play activity tracker from the company, Astro Bot is no. 1 in terms of most wishlists of all the games that have been announced over the past couple of weeks.
Astro Bot was the No.1 wishlisted game according to IGN during the not-E3/SGF period of game announcements. Coming out just ahead of Doom, Gears of War and Perfect Dark. https://t.co/Xtx7KF5ozx pic.twitter.com/yvKE14u781

This Team Asobi title has beaten titles like Gears of War: E-Day, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and many other huge ones.

Seeing the chart, we can see that the throne is captured by PlayStation, but the rest is dominated by the games that have been featured in the Xbox Games Showcase. One important thing to remember is that this chart is based on the people who wishlisted these games during this two-week period only. So, basically, new games announced during this period got a huge advantage.
Astro’s Playroom was pre-installed on every PS5, and fans loved it very much. It was a free tech demo for the DualSense controller. Seeing this response from the fans, Sony made the right decision to throw a full game in Astro’s universe. However, the highly anticipated title followed the footsteps of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in one decision.
The Gameplay Looks Like Fast-Paced Fun
This game is going to be a full-fledged platformer with a whole Sony-themed atmosphere where about 150 classic characters from the PlayStation’s world of gaming will be featured as cameos.
The story of the game begins when Astro’s Dual Sense Spaceship breaks apart all over the universe in the form of PlayStation gaming equipment. This will start the journey of our cute mascot to travel across 80 planets and six galaxies to find out all the missing parts of the spaceship.
According to Nicolas Doucet (as per EW), the studio head, this game is going to be a new beginning. This is what he has to say about our little hero’s adventure:
We wanted to make a big game. This is really about going up one notch—really several notches—and having Astro’s big story… That’s a really, really big game. I think for us, that’s the biggest game we’ve ever made.
