Henry Cavill’s topsy-turvy tenure in the DCU was disappointing to witness despite the actor’s impressive commitment to the role of Superman. Cavill’s Superman was a departure from previous incarnations as it went in a more dark and complex direction. Man of Steel presented the best version of Cavill’s Superman.
Cavill confidently portrays the moral dilemma of being an outsider on Earth as well as the only hope of the planet when General Zod arrives. It has been 11 years since the release of the film and fans still look back fondly on the film. X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo also praised Cavill’s performance, especially how he carried himself in the role.
Beau DeMayo Is In Awe of Henry Cavill’s Swagger While Playing Superman
Henry Cavill debuted as Clark Kent/ Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The director brought on a unique Superman narrative, abandoning the light and breezy tone of Christopher Reeve’s Superman for a more darker and morally complex portrayal of the character. Cavil also brought his own take on the character and impressed fans with his portrayal of the iconic DC superhero.
Cavill successfully managed to convey the confusion, alienation, and evolution of a young Clark Kent. He manages to convince audiences that Clark Kent is meant for greater things and when he eventually becomes Superman, it feels natural. Cavill switches up his acting chops and delivers a confident, suave, and charismatic performance as Superman.
Fans still consider Man of Steel among the best entries in the DCU and many fans still talk about the great things Snyder and Cavill brought to the Superman lore. X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo also seems to be a big fan of the film and recently took to X to praise Cavil’s portrayal of Superman. DeMayo especially pointed out how much he adores Cavill’s swagger-walk as Superman. He wrote,
He had the Supe swagger walk DOWN. *goes and practices in mirror*

Cavill’s performance has been hailed by many despite the mixed response to the DC films he’s been in. DeMayo’s praise adds to the incredible reputation that Cavill’s Superman has with fans. David Corenswet, who will be playing the character in James Gunn’s universe has a Herculean task of living up to the legacy of Cavill’s Superman.
