The Acolyte recently debuted its fourth episode as the series continues to be divisive among the Star Wars fan base. After drawing fans’ ire for mistreating the franchise’s lore in its third episode, the fourth episode repeated the feat with one Jedi cameo from the prequel trilogy movies, which makes no sense.
Popular YouTuber Star Wars Theory reacted to the fourth episode and seemingly lost his cool with the Jedi cameo. Following the creator’s reaction, fans also pointed out the absurdity of the cameo on social media and criticized the series for once again breaking George Lucas’ lore. Here is what Star Wars Theory and the fans had to say about The Acolyte episode 4.
Star Wars Theory Loses His Calm After The Acolyte Episode 4 Brings Back a Prequel Trilogy Jedi
Created by Leslye Headland, The Acolyte takes place during the High Republic era and explores the sudden reemergence of the Sith. The series features several Jedi characters and includes a cameo from Ki-Adi-Mundi in its fourth episode. The character was first introduced during the prequel trilogy of Star Wars movies, directed by George Lucas.
After watching the episode, popular YouTuber Star Wars Theory had a negative reaction to the cameo, particularly because it does not sit well with the pre-established lore of the franchise. He said:
Why is Ki-Adi-Mundi? He is not supposed to be here.
The creator further voiced his outrage about the cameo given Mundi’s role in The Phantom Menace, where the Jedi Master was among the first people to dismiss the threat of the Sith returning.
The Sith have been extinct for a millennium.
Mundi famously quoted the above lines during the first installment of the prequels era.
The Acolyte showcasing the character as a part of a discussion about the Sith returning roughly a hundred years before The Phantom Menace seemed outrageous to Theory. Therefore, the creator quite understandably lost his cool with the series once again messing with Lucas’ established canon lore.
Fans React to Ki-Adi-Mundi’s The Acolyte Cameo Breaking Geroge Lucas’ Star Wars Lore
Following Star Wars Theory losing his cool over Ki-Adi-Mundi’s cameo in The Acolyte episode 4, fans quickly took to social media to voice their own thoughts on the seemingly outrageous inclusion of the prequel trilogy Jedi Master.
Here is what fans had to say about Ki-Adi-Mundi’s appearance in The Acolyte and its impact on the existing Star Wars canon on X.
Theory missed the biggest problem. ki-Adi Mundi’s species has a 50 year lifespan in a show that is 100 years before the Phantom Menace.

I knew he was a sith all along lol. They may as well retcon the rule of two while they're at it

Not to mention he’s not even supposed to be alive during 132 BBY.

As the tweets suggest, most fans sided with Theory’s outrage over the inclusion of Ki-Adi-Mundi in the fourth episode of The Acolyte. Furthermore, fans cleverly pointed out that there was evidence to prove the character wasn’t even supposed to be alive during the show’s timeline, which is set roughly a hundred years before The Phantom Menace.
Ultimately, Theory and Star Wars fans agreed that Ki-Adi-Mundi’s cameo did not make any canonical sense. Therefore, it is safe to say that The Acolyte has once again managed to piss off loyal fans because of its poor handling and mistreatment of the canon established by George Lucas.
The Acolyte is streaming on Disney+.
