When Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto first started, every anime fan sympathized with the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, for the suffering and mental torture he had to go through for being a jinchuriki of the nine-tailed fox. However, Naruto, despite being hated by the entire village, not only saved Konoha but also became the Hokage.

And while the villagers were happy with seeing Naruto progress slowly, their initial behavior toward the character was hated by every Naruto fan. So much so that many believed that Naruto should have let the village burn, as it would have been justifiable for how they treated him despite being the most important member of the village.
While the series has ended, a Naruto fan recently shared an idea for a ‘What If…?’ series where Naruto can still be the main character and care less about the people of Konoha. This what-if series could make his character change drastically and become a part of something more menacing.
Konoha Was Unjust to Naruto
The story of Naruto started by focusing on a small child (Naruto) who had a demon captured inside him, which made every member of his village stay away from him. He had no friends, and many villagers even hated him to the point that they wouldn’t even look at him. This made Naruto act out and annoy everyone in the village through mischief.
Not only that, even the Third Hokage, Sarutobi, who was given the duty of taking care of Naruto by his parents, neglected him and left him on his own in an apartment. He only gave him a monthly allowance that was just enough for him to get by. This was truly heartbreaking for fans to watch, as Naruto was a small kid at the time.

However, deep inside, Naruto felt the pain of being hated by his own village. But instead of taking the wrong path, Naruto wanted to make the villagers recognize him as a valuable member. Thus, he decided to become the Hokage of Konoha and make every member of the village respect him.
Naruto Fan Had a Perfect ‘What If…?’ Series Idea
In his adventures as a Shinobi, Naruto saved Konoha multiple times. He saved the village from being attacked by Orochimaru. Then he saved the village from the attack of Pain, and ultimately he saved the entire world during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

However, d_rich7 on Instagram questioned whether Konoha village was deserving of Naruto’s so many sacrifices.

Thus, he came up with the idea of a ‘What If…?’ series, in which Naruto decides to take a different path. The series would focus on Naruto’s reply to Konoha village for all the injustice that he had to bear as a kid. Not only that, he would also join the evil organization of the series, Akatsuki, which involved Shinobis who were deserted from their village.
While many fans may argue that Konoha’s treatment of Naruto is one of the main aspects that helped him become the Hokage, it still doesn’t justify the ill-treatment of a kid whose parents gave up their lives to protect the village from a tailed beast. If Masashi Kishimoto wants, he can very well work on something like this, and fans would definitely watch.
You can watch Naruto on Hulu.
