With Capcom’s success with the Resident Evil franchise over the years, its more action-oriented Dead Rising counterpart has remained in the shadows for years. Now, eight years after the series’ last release, Capcom has announced a current-gen remaster of the first game, called Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
Dead Rising‘s remaster announcement came by way of a short YouTube trailer showing the game’s opening moments of Dead Rising protagonist Frank West jumping off a helicopter towards a zombie-infested mall. While the trailer has been quite controversial, gamers agree that just like Metroid Prime Remastered, Capcom has really given us a proper remake treatment.
Gamers Agree Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is A Massive Remake Like Metroid Prime Remastered
Last year, Nintendo finally gave players the highly-anticipated Metroid Prime Remastered. The game was appreciated by critics and fans alike, who praised Retro Studio’s effort to go one step ahead and deliver a proper remake instead of just a remaster.
Metroid Prime Remastered brought players some of the best graphics, improved controls, and updated audio. The title preserved the original game’s core gameplay and introduced modern fidelity and quality-of-life improvements.
After Capcom revealed Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, many gamers were frustrated with the changes to Frank West’s character in the game. However, after drawing comparisons between the original game’s visuals and the scenes from the trailer, fans are happy to know that Capcom is adapting the philosophy of Metroid Prime Remastered with Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
It’s clear that Capcom has put a lot of effort into completely transforming the original Dead Rising into a modern-day title. Fans are excited to see how Capcom plans to use the current-generation consoles to deliver the classic zombie-slaying experience! It’s time for Call of Duty to learn from Capcom.
Call of Duty wasn’t the only comparison the new release received.
There’s no doubt that 2024 has given us some incredible remasters and remakes. We’ve seen games such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload, and Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster pleasing games and pulling new audiences to such classic titles.
If Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster manages to become a hit, it will join a long list of Xbox 360-era remasters, such as Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and many others.
Will Other Dead Rising Games Get a Remaster Treatment?
Even though Dead Rising did get an enhanced version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, fans are excited to play the game with even better visuals and overall performance. However, this has made everyone wonder if other Dead Rising games will be next in line to get a remake treatment.
Some of the Dead Rising sequels are a decade old at this point and in desperate need of a makeover. With how Capcom is going for a remaster approach to Dead Rising, at least for the first game, there are slim chances of a Resident Evil-style remake of this series.
Most likely, Capcom sees the value in the proven success of Resident Evil remakes, and developing remakes for two different zombie games could be a very daunting task. However, there’s still a chance we might eventually see Dead Rising 5.
