The Clone Wars is one of the best Star Wars media, fleshing out the prequels era for fans beyond the three films. It humanized the clones and introduced audiences to some of the great characters of Star Wars, like Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano, and The Bad Batch.

A lot of the great things that came from the show can be credited to Dave Filoni, whose understanding of the lore of the universe has delivered some of the best stories from the IP in animation and live-action alike. However, it seems fans have Filoni to thank for the amazing portrayal of Anakin Skywalker as well, which was essayed by Matt Lanter.

Matt Latner revealed how he got an interesting note about playing Anakin Skywalker. It was Dave Filoni‘s note that allowed the actor to get the part, given that he did not know that he was auditioning for the role of Anakin Skywalker. He said:
I actually had no idea I was auditioning for Anakin Skywalker. They told me the role I was reading for was a character named ‘Deak Starkiller.’ I did a quick online search but there wasn’t much out there, so I really had no idea. I remember Dave Filoni suggesting I give them my best combination of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, and that’s what got me the job.
Matt Latner’s role as Anakin Skywalker lasted longer than Hayden Christensen’s, which allowed him to portray the character with a little more nuance. Over the many seasons of The Clone Wars, Latner was able to deliver a performance that allowed the viewers to have an insight into the changes that Anakin endured between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
The Clone Wars fixed a lot of the problems of the prequel trilogy

There were a lot of questions that the fans had about the Prequel trilogy, with respect to the clones and their relationship with the Jedi. The Jedi were gunned down during Order 66, which is something a lot of fans questioned, given that the Clones had served the Jedi faithfully and had developed a relationship over the course of a war.
There was also an explanation of how Anakin was dealing with being deployed into battle while knowing Padme was pregnant, and the fact that his visions of the future still showed her dying. The Clone Wars also gave audiences a perspective on how Anakin’s training could have fed his paranoia, given how he trained Ahsoka and risked himself for the lives of his clone troopers and allies.
