While the original Overwatch boasted a 6v6 mode, the second installment Overwatch 2 changed it to a standard 5v5. There is a certain charm to having a 6v6 mode, where the more players a battlefield has, the more chaos ensues. Hence, since the release of Overwatch 2, players have been demanding that the beloved 6v6 mode be brought back.
Apparently, the noise has reached Overwatch 2’s director, Aaron Keller, who will address it soon. Of course, nothing conclusive can be made from this yet, but since the director will talk about the mode, this could indicate that something big is happening behind the scenes.
Could We See a Return of 6v6 in Overwatch 2?
It’s fair to say Overwatch 2 has not lived up to the hype set by the game’s first installment. While the game ditched the pay-to-play model the first one had and went completely free, it did not manage to garner a player base that Blizzard would have hoped for.
Despite the mediocre fan appreciation, Blizzard is trying to reinvigorate the game, and one of the first steps in that journey is updating the game’s old heroes. It was recently teased that many heroes are being reworked to make them more enjoyable and exciting to play.
According to a Tweet posted by Overwatch 2’s director, Aaron Keller, Blizzard understands that this sentiment has been echoing for a while, and he will address the talks surrounding the mode soon. Given that Blizzard has been taking a lot of recommendations from the fans regarding the game, we can expect something to come out of this.
We will likely hear more about the mode in the upcoming director’s take or possibly the dev update. Regardless, fans hope the mode will debut in the game soon or at least arrive as a limited-time event.
Season 11 is About to Hit Overwatch 2
Surprisingly, Overwatch 2 did not appear in the recent X Games Showcase, leaving many fans disappointed. However, soon after, Blizzard revealed the plans for the games, which included details about season 11.
The highlight of the upcoming season will be a fan-made game mode called Community Crafted. It features heroes adjusted by the community’s popular creators. While fans want to see more from Blizzard, collaborating with the community is always a good sign.
Not only is the game getting a fan-made game mode, but season 11 will also bring back the iconic Cassidy Flashbang grenade ability. The current magnetic grenade is being replaced, and the new flashbang will slow down the opponent. The exact working of the ability are yet to be revealed.
