Helldivers 2 has come a long way since its inception, and at the time of writing, it boasts a monthly average of more than 90k players on Steam alone. The creative mind behind the popular live-service game is excited about the upcoming third-person shooter Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2.
On the surface, both of these games have the qualities of healthy competitors and universes that feel quite similar. This may even lead to a collaboration someday.
Helldivers 2 and Space Marine 2 – Two Sides of the Same Coin?

Helldivers 2 has everything it needs to be the ideal live service game. On that note, it’s always good to stay open-minded about new content and where the game’s narrative can take itself.
So far, we’ve seen bugs, worms, robots, and all kinds of monstrosities keep Super Earth reaching its true potential. To make matters worse, Managed Democracy requires constant effort from the community and gamers may be too distracted in the coming months.
The upcoming Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is not only a game about shooting through hordes of enemies but also an attempt at finding common ground with comrades in battle. Now, where have we seen that before?
Recently, Johan Pilestedt shared his excitement for the upcoming game and how much he looks forward to playing it. There are many sci-fi shooters out there, but this franchise stays close to his heart, it seems.
Clearly, he is someone who has been inspired by the sci-fi franchise that has actualized itself through multiple games before. These two universes may have more in common than we’d like to admit. But does that mean anything for Helldivers 2? Let’s speculate, shall we?
Helldivers 2 Holds Potential for a Warhammer 40K Collaboration

Think about live service games for a moment. Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends. What do they have in common? Epic collaborations with cool franchises, of course. Arrowhead’s game may have been a bit behind on this, but it’ll happen eventually. After all, the subgenre thrives on fresh content inspired by what’s happening in other universes.
Even if it’s not a direct collaboration with Warhammer 40K, there’s always a reason to believe that the game will have some references to or callbacks to the earlier games. Maybe a stratagem that calls in co-op support or gear that resembles something of a Space Marine?
While all of this is purely under speculation, which may potentially lead to a, “I told you so!” in the future it’s always good to have something to look forward to.
