Xbox has come a long way and has established itself as a major brand in the gaming industry. It has acquired several studios over the years, both developers and publishers, to strengthen its place in the industry and compete with other brands like Sony and Nintendo.
Sega, one of the most popular developers in the industry, hasn’t had the best time in business and has recorded big losses. Fans are now asking Microsoft to purchase the company to save it from further losses and also bring new games in the popular franchises of the publisher to players.
Fans Want Xbox to Purchase Sega

One fan took to X/Twitter and said that Microsoft should buy Sega. They said this as the publisher has some of the most popular franchises under its umbrella including the renowned Sonic the Hedgehog. However, the company has suffered big losses in the previous fiscal year.
The company reported a net loss of over $41 million for the fiscal year ending May 31, 2024. That is an 86.7% decline in operating profit compared to last year. This is because of the restructuring in Europe and the sale of Relic Entertainment.
The money is ready, #Microsoft, do it!

– For your information: According to the latest reports, #Sega suffered financial losses amounting to $41 million in the last fiscal year, and among the reasons is the cancellation of many projects along with restructuring in Europe. pic.twitter.com/16vqLJMGL9
Moreover, the company also incurred a loss of 12,955 million Yen due to shelving of game projects. All this comes despite the company’s game releases and strong sales. Titles like Dragon Gaiden, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Sonic Superstars, among others, sold well but still the overall operating profit was impacted.
Xbox is basically that Grim Reaper meme with the doors at this point.

I'd rather not
While many would like to support this unlikely event, some think that Microsoft already has several publishing labels and the publisher doesn’t add much to the company as most of its games are already on Game Pass.
Can Xbox Actually Save The Publisher?

As much as some fans may want Microsoft to pull this proposed sale, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it can help the publisher from incurring any more losses. Moreover, fans have said that Microsoft needs to stay away from the company as it will only make things worse.
One user said that Microsoft should come up with its own studios instead of targeting others while another added that Microsoft may close more studios to sustain, so “no thanks.”
No we don’t need Ms to close Sega

One fan said that the company spending a fortune for Activision Blizzard and King doesn’t mean it will buy all companies. Many have also added that Microsoft hasn’t really done much with the studios it has acquired.
What do you gain from this?

Sega games are already on Xbox, most on Gamepass.
They’re going multiplatform so it’s not for exclusives. Just for them to slap their name on the box?
The recent shutdown of studios like Tango Gameworks shows that the company can not handle more studios. Players are not happy with Microsoft’s decisions.
