It seems like Hollywood A-lister Kevin Costner isn’t quite able to lead the best of his life as of late, and the offscreen criticism his Western Horizon saga garnered isn’t the only reason why. This is because of the latest reports from insiders, which have revealed some very painful details about the fan-favorite actor’s personal life, that are, apparently, leading to his breakdown.
As it turns out, Costner is doing anything but good, and the exclusive rumors about his ex-wife and longtime partner Christine Baumgartner’s marriage with his former best friend Josh Connor have reportedly left him bruised. That said, while his risky Horizon: An American Saga is one thing, all these personal tragedies seem to be further adding to his reported “world of pain.”
Kevin Costner Reportedly Unhappy With Christine Baumgartner’s Marriage Rumors
According to recent reports that an insider exclusively shared with Life & Style, former Yellowstone member Costner is seemingly on the verge of a breakdown. This is because pretty much nothing seems to be going in the right direction — or at least the way he intended it to — in his personal and professional life.
As fans already know, after nearly two decades of being happily married together, the actor’s ex-wife and onetime designer Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce from him in May 2023. According to the latest reports, it wasn’t in Costner’s personal best interests to go with this decision, but he only had to go with it because that was “the hand he was dealt.”
As per the reports by Life & Style, the Dances with Wolves actor is further facing conflicts as his reported budding romance with American singer-songwriter and poet Jewel seems to have reached a dead end. This comes after the insider claimed that the You Were Mean for Me singer has reportedly “given up on him.”
Adding to all of this are the reports that Baumgartner is, apparently, looking forward to taking things to the next level with her current love interest and Kevin Costner‘s former best friend and 49-year-old financier, Josh Connor. As per what the reports are claiming, she seems to be positive about making Connor her husband after splitting from Costner.

Kevin never wanted the divorce but that’s the hand he was dealt, but seeing his ex getting ready to marry his old friend, and getting dumped by Jewel — it’s left him bruised!
That being said, Costner is now reportedly “in a world of pain. Everything is caving in on him now. It’s only a matter of time before he crumbles!” But while all of these “personal knocks” have been adding to his stress, what further reportedly has him worried is Horizon: An American Saga, which has been facing the most brutal criticism from critics.
Kevin Costner is Reportedly Terrified of Horizon Failing As Well
As fans already know, the critics at the Cannes Film Festival weren’t all too kind to Costner following the screening of his Western, Horizon: An American Saga. This seems to have left the actor tremendously bruised and worrisome about this project, considering how he actually did more than just acting and directing for it.
According to what the source reported to Life & Style:
For all his bravado, he’s terrified Horizon will bleed him dry and he’ll lose a huge chunk of savings.
Moreover, the insider also revealed that the real reason why Costner is putting so much more of his personal life out there and talking so much about it all is because “he knows Hollywood and how this works and knows the best way to handle it is to take it on the chin and come back and be less reclusive.”
However, this doesn’t all seem to be going perfectly for him, considering these aforementioned reports and just how much more stress this recent turn of events has further landed him.

He’s not sleeping well. He’s in crisis meetings over his projects. He can’t seem to get a hit movie, he can’t keep a girlfriend — and his ex seems happier than ever!
For whatever it’s worth, things don’t seem to be looking all too good for Kevin Costner as of late; neither in his private life nor his professional one. That being said, perhaps the one thing that could actually have him sleeping soundly could be the surprise success of his soon-to-be-completely-released Western saga.
