Bleach is finally getting a new game, and no, it’s not a mobile release this time. A full-fledged release of PC, PlayStation, and Xbox is on its way!
Things aren’t smooth sailing in the fandom right now, however. Before the official announcement at Anime Expo, a datamined trailer had leaked, leaving many people disappointed and concerned. With such strong opinions formed before the official trailer even came out, it’s going to be tough to get people on board for this game.
The Datamined Bleach Game Trailer Was a Doozy

Around a day ago, leaker SergioM3R posted a datamined trailer of the upcoming Bleach game, Rebirth of Souls.
While people were excited for a new game in the franchise, they hadn’t expected this.
The trailer looked questionable at best, but one of the biggest problems seemed to be that it was an arena fighter—the one genre people were hoping it wouldn’t be.
It didn’t do much to inspire others, who immediately began doom posting about the trailer. Is this what they waited so long for?
People were heavily put off by the possibility it was an arena fighter game, and they made sure not to hide it.
Arena fighting games seem to be super disliked by the fandom, especially since it’s the go-to genre for anime games, it feels like.
If this is what Bleach: Rebirth of Souls ended up being, it would kill the interest of many people before release.
With the release of the official trailer and website, everyone’s doubts can be laid to rest. Unfortunately, it’s not the answer they want to hear.
Rebirth of Souls Trailer Doesn’t Do Much to Ease Fans
The official trailer for Bleach: Rebirth of Souls has come out, and everyone’s worst nightmare has come true. The game is yet another arena fighter.
Many people were simply happy that there was another Bleach game coming out, so the reception hasn’t been too terrible. A lot of the fans remain hopeful.
So long as the Bleach game is good, some people are okay with playing a release in this genre.
A few people couldn’t help but notice the similarities to the Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash, which was, you guessed it, another arena fighter.
Not everyone agreed with this sentiment though, as this tweet had several people pushing back and denying the similarities.
With so many anime games recycling the same concept and model, it would be nice to see ones that do their own thing. See One Piece Odyssey, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom for example.
These games may not be the pinnacle of gaming (depending on who you ask), but they offered fans a new experience that wasn’t just pitting a few of their favorite characters against one another for some random reason that had to be made up for the game’s plot to work.
