Portraying the role of Carol Marcus in the film, Eve had no complaints about the scene. However, the scene was an important factor because it was the introduction of the character of Carol Marcus.

During the Build Series interview, Alice Eve revealed that before she was finalized for the role, she had to go through a rigorous audition process with director J.J. Abrams.

I must have done it 17 times in a row in the room with J.J. Like, various different ways. I was heavily auditioned for that role, yeah. But [I] really enjoyed auditioning for him. Sometimes it’s not fun to audition, but with J.J it felt a little bit more like a workshop and a work in progress rather than a test.

She further continued,

He’s always doing that and he’s very amenable. And so in the middle of it, if I didn’t like it, I’d be like, ‘No, no, I want to go again.’ ‘Yeah, yeah, go again! Yeah, yeah, yeah, go again! Yeah, yeah, yeah.’ It was very kind of [inter]active, the process.

Well, the end result was indeed iconic as the world was greeted to Alive Eve and Chris Pine’s hilarious interaction in the 2013 film when Pine was just figuring out how his character was going to be like.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the villainous Khan in the 2013 film, J.J. Abrams felt that the villains of his movies should be iconic. However, that wasn’t the case so in his 2009 reboot Star Trek which got differing reviews from the world.

J.J. Abrams Talks About Villains of Star Trek

In the book The Fifty-Year Mission: The Next 25 Years: From The Next Generation to J. J. Abrams (via SlashFilm), J.J. Abrams revealed that the only thing he ever regrets is giving Eric Bana less screen time.

Our first ‘Star Trek’ movie was, if anything, an exercise in perfection of casting. April Webster and Alyssa Weisberg helped us find the absolutely perfect actors. I’m proud of its telling and humor, but of course only see what’s wrong with it.

He further continued,

Among other things, I wish we had given Bana a bit more to do other than be full of rage, given that he is such a fine actor.

From action scenes in Star Wars to controversial scenes in Star Trek, J.J. Abrams has got quite the stories to share. The 2009 reboot, as mentioned, received mixed reviews but did not gain much momentum upon its release.
