When Damon and his wife decided to get their names tattooed on each other in 2013, the actor went to the same tattoo artist to get it done.
Additionally, he wanted to get another tattoo as a reminder of his friendship and connection with Ledger. Thus, Damon and his wife got a particular special tattoo that Ledger had back in the day. The Bourne Identity star likened the tattoo to a guardian angel that looked over the names of the people tattooed on the couple’s arms. He told GQ,
There is a friend of ours who did all of Heath Ledger’s tattoos and I told him if I ever got a tattoo, he was my first phone call…just wanted to get something that Heath had, that’s the one I want. So we both have that. It’s like a little creative little blessing. It’s like an angel that looks over all these names that are on the arm.
It is touching to see how Damon wanted to have something to remember Ledger and getting a tattoo that was particularly designed by The Dark Knight actor was a great choice. While Ledger sadly is not around anymore, the two will forever have a deeper and emotional connection through their matching tattoos.
Matt Damon Was Thrilled To Reunite With Doug Liman For The Instigators
Matt Damon and Doug Liman first worked together on The Bourne Identity in 2002. After over 20 years, the duo are teaming up for the upcoming heist comedy film The Instigators. The reunion was something that Damon had wanted for years and he told Entertainment Weekly that he’s surprised that it took 20 years to get there.
The Oppenheimer star further stated that Liman is a creatively tenacious individual and loves working with him. The director does not stop working till he has the best film possible and the actor completely trusts his process. Damon told Entertainment Weekly,
I absolutely love working with Doug. I can’t believe it took us 20 years to find something else to do together. Doug is one of the most creatively tenacious people I’ve ever met. He just won’t stop until the movie is as good as it can be, and that is the best possible thing you can feel from a director. I trust him completely.
The trailer of the film promises a fun heist film powered by the comedic banter between Damon and Casey Affleck. The Instigators also stars Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, and Ron Pearlman. The film will be released on Apple TV+ on August 9, 2024.
