Taylor Swift is one of the most notable and respected figures in the world. While her recent Eras Tour has given her unfathomable success, she has been at the forefront of the media for the majority of her career. Such an amount of notability can often come with its downsides, and the singer is no stranger to hate. One of her best-known ways to deal with the stress that comes with her life is to keep as much of it private as possible.
While the world does think that they know a lot about Swift, the majority of her life is kept hidden from peering eyes, and for good reason. It would seem that these practices are not exclusively practiced by her, as her close friends seem to understand the challenges that come with being such a public figure.
During a recent interview, Lena Dunham, who has been friends with the singer for over a decade, revealed that she is very protective over her friendship with Swift.
Lena Dunham is Protective of Taylor Swift
Over the years, Taylor Swift has gained a reputation for having a ‘squad’ of sorts. Some of the most well-known celebrities are known to be a part of it and they are often spotted by paparazzi. Despite this, they are all notably secretive about their friendship with the singer, and Lena Dunham seems to have given a small insight into why she practices the same.
While speaking with The New Yorker, the director was asked about her relationship with the singer, and she was quite upfront with her answers. She started by mentioning that she is very cautious about what she reveals to people about Swift.
I’m always very careful to be protective of her in every single way. Probably the two things I get asked most in life are ‘What is Taylor like?’ and ‘Can I have tickets to the Eras Tour?’ And usually my answer to both things is no, but I will say that she’s everything that you would want her to be.
She is often asked about what the singer is like in real life, and Dunham’s usual answer is to not reveal much. She did, however, mention that Swift is everything her fans want and expect her to be as a person.
Lena Dunham Understands Taylor Swift’s Struggles With Her Fame
Lena Dunham started by revealing some details about the kind of person Taylor Swift is. As many who have met her over the years have said, the director painted a picture of a kind, thoughtful, considerate, and compassionate person. She then elaborated on why she is protective of the singer.
She’s kind, she’s devoted, she’s introspective, she’s emotional, she’s funny as f–k. I guess my feeling sometimes is, ‘Isn’t she giving us enough, guys?
She is of the belief that Swift puts enough of herself out into the world, and asking for more is almost greedy. The vulnerability that she has in her music is quite rare. Every single one of her songs is overly analyzed by the world in an attempt to find those who inspired the words.
She was having the exact experience that is standard for a woman in their twenties, which is finding who your people are. But there was just an examination of it that was so microscopic, and a set of standards that were so outlandish.
Dunham believes that having such a life should not require her to reveal more parts of herself to the world, especially by her friends.
