There’s no doubt that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is one of the finest works by FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki. After the title’s release, the franchise has triumphantly returned to the limelight and stands as the face of the niche mecha genre.
Despite the game’s success, its future is still currently known as FromSoftware hasn’t dropped any hints whatsoever about a possible expansion or DLC. However, according to a newly emerged job listing, it seems like Miyazaki is planning for an Armored Core 6 expansion.

The Japanese studio’s latest project was released on June 21 in the form of a critically acclaimed Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring. Although it’s confirmed that a majority of the studio’s workforce is still working to support the DLC with the patches, it seems like they’re heading towards the Armored Core franchise now.
One of the users on the tech4gamers forum has spotted a job advertisement on FromSoftware’s career pages. The listing describes an opening for a character modeler whose job will include various things such as texturing, modeling, and animating “characters or robots.”
The latest mainline entry is on the verge of celebrating its first anniversary. Despite an active fanbase, Miyazaki and his team haven’t delivered a game-changing DLC the Japanese studio has always been known for.
The news has certainly got many fans excited on social media, who can’t wait to see what the developers are cooking for the mech game.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to an Armored Core 6 DLC. It can expand the franchise’s incredible narrative, deepen the lore, and bring players new foes to fend off. DLCs for a game like Armored Core are necessary to keep the player base engaged and pull in a new audience.
However, the studio might be working on another entry in the Armored Core franchise. Miyazaki has himself stated that he is eager to take up more Armored Core titles, although he didn’t mention how he hopes to tackle such a massive project.

You’ll be surprised to know, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors about a potential DLC for the highly acclaimed mech game. Back in September 2023, X/Twitter user ZullieTheWitch managed to datamine several references to “DLC parts” and “data” from the latest Armored Core game.
There’s a chance that players might have a brand-new DLC, but Miyazaki and his team could also be experimenting with a brand-new robot game as well.
The Japanese studio is known for its tendency to experiment with fresh IPs, and one report in 2023 suggested that the studio is working on multiple new projects.
Considering the studio’s history of never going too long between releasing a new title or DLC and announcing its next project, it may reveal what’s coming next in the near future, possibly right at the end of 2024.
