It is not easy to find voice actors but the developers were in luck to bring in Richard Charles Lintern. Despite being in the entertainment industry for quite a while, Lintern failed to realize that his most recent voice-over work is for a video game and the developers had to walk him through it.

FromSoftware did not hold back with the latest expansion and threw the entire kitchen sink of omitted content from the base game. Miyazaki had to explain the reason why the developers ultimately decided that Shadow of the Erdtree would be the only expansion for Elden Ring and it greatly involves the pacing and for the gaming community to have a smooth transition from one major project to another.

The developers went all out with the expansion and brought in more talent. Lintern had no clue what the project was about and upon meeting the legendary game director, his people had to explain what it was all about and the process which he briefly mentioned in a recent interview.

‘It’s a video game, Richard. Sometimes you defeat the beast, and sometimes the beast defeats you. We need both options.’ I hadn’t thought about that.”

Voice actors have a wide array of options to work with, others became more prominent with voice-over work for animation, and some gained luck in the video game industry. It must be humbling for Lintern to be in the presence of Miyazaki and offer his expertise in his latest project be his introduction to the world of gaming.

Fans have been waiting for this expansion for quite some time, unfortunately, it wasn’t at the best or most polished state for players to experience. Some players had bad luck and encountered a glitch or bug where one boss multiplied itself by two making the fight twice as hard.

No video game is perfect and the gaming community needs to accept that by now. FromSoftware did its best to get the expansion out and the reception was mostly positive and the inclusion of Lintern enhanced the gaming experience.

The lines between video games, theater, live-action, and all other formats where acting can be applied are beginning to blur. Lintern gained the experience he needed and could potentially carve a career in voice acting in the future.

It is wholesome to see veteran actors explore different avenues to express their talent. The game industry is giving actors the platform they need to gain even more opportunities they deserve.

Perhaps FromSoftware will consider adding more talented actors in future games. Igon was a great addition to the cast and the world of Elden Ring.
