Tom Cruise’s decades-spanning career has earned him the title of the ultimate movie star, and being in the limelight for a very long time has also taught him various strategies for promoting films. His instinct as a celebrity was put on display in the recent movie premiere of Twisters.
On the other hand, fans are criticizing Glen Powell, the star of the film, for not getting the clue and learning from the veteran star. During their photo session, Cruise urged his former costar to hold his popcorn bucket up for the cameras, but the latter failed to understand what it meant.
Glen Powell Needs To Learn From Tom Cruise
Popcorn buckets are now a prop of advertisement and Tom Cruise took advantage of it while attending the movie premiere of Glen Powell’s disaster action film Twisters. The cast members along with the Mission: Impossible star lined up for quick snaps and they were seen holding popcorn buckets.
In the video taken via Twitter/X, fans can see Cruise subtly telling Powell to hold up the popcorn bucket with the photo and title of the movie, a tell-tale sign of his experience advertising films. However, the young actor did not seem to understand the purpose of properly holding the bucket. He just aimlessly put it up a bit higher with his thumb dipped in popcorn.
Many fans praised Cruise for his quick yet strategic way of subtly promoting his fellow actor’s film. He certainly knew what he was doing as seen in the manner he handled the bucket – no letter covered and the full title visibly facing the camera.
Meanwhile, Powell received criticism for not paying attention to the veteran star’s hint. Check out fans’ reactions below:
and yet glen somehow still doesn't get it😭😭😭

There's another video how he also directed Glen "to hold that up" but his popcorn still didn't make it to the frame. https://t.co/K8iNRCWTZs

Perhaps Powell will learn this important lesson now the next time he promotes his movies. After all, it comes from a very credible actor whose films have broken box office records.
What To Expect In The New Twisters Movie
Director Lee Isaac Chung revealed via Empire Magazine that they attempted to produce the film in the most realistic way. They minimized the use of visual effects and relied heavily on the true natural disaster.
This is an elemental story, so I wanted us to go as practical as possible. We really tore things up. We had jet engines blowing. We had fans so massive you’d lose your hearing without earplugs. We were pelting our cast with everything – dirt, wind, ice.
The weather in which they shot the movie was very unpredictable, but the filmmaker stood by his decision. “It was my choice to do this in tornado season, but honestly, I still can’t believe we actually did it,” he triumphantly said. The production team flew drones very close to the tornados, risking everything just to get the desired effect.
Twisters will hit theaters on July 19.
