Spoilers have become common, especially for the Marvel fan community, which was at its peak with respect to the Avengers: Endgame premiere. With the studio’s films getting so big, it’s hard not to spill the beans on social media. As a result, some strict measures have had to be taken since then.

It’s no different in the last few days leading up to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Considering that it’s yet another film that promised to take the MCU in a new direction, it’s been necessary to redouble caution in the most exaggerated way possible. Will it work, though?

The Cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine Are What Everyone’s Waiting For

The latest Marvel movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, is being promoted in some countries by the cast members. This requires caution, as the media and fans are eager for any kind of spoilers, but that is why everyone who joins the MCU strictly follows the rule of keeping information under wraps.

At a recent event in Berlin, the actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman sat down with the director Shawn Levy to talk about the film. When asked for any other details, Levy stated they would love to show the whole movie, but were forbidden. They had just screened a 35-minute sneak peek, and Reynolds added:

The honest truth is we’re hiding a lot, which is why we’re showing this amount of footage. There’s kind of an impossible amount of surprises that, in a couple of weeks, we’re so excited to unleash.

The feedback was spoiler-free and extremely positive, with confirmation that most of the scenes shown had already appeared in the official trailer. This shows just how careful they are being. The preview was meant to give a taste to a few lucky fans without giving away too much (via Comic Book).

However, the real buzz is all about the special cameos in the production. Since the last Avengers movie, Marvel’s been spot-on with these, as it’s something that really excites the audience. Yet, the only thing that has been said is that some rumors are right, while others are totally wrong and off base.

So far, what is known about this part is what the trailers have already confirmed. The characters Sabretooth, Toad, Pyro, Lady Deathstrike, Juggernaut, and Azazel, brought together by Cassandra Nova, are set to make an appearance.

With the multiverse officially open, fans are waiting for any chance to see characters from other worlds. Besides, considering that Shawn Levy was involved in directing and writing Free Guy, — along with Reynolds as the protagonist, and Jackman voicing one of the characters — cameos of all kinds are expected at high levels.

Remember What Happened With Avengers: Endgame

In 2019, Avengers: Endgame was a huge hit. After nearly a decade of planning, Marvel managed to make history, left a lasting impact, and pulled in a whopping 2.798 billion USD at the worldwide box office. But even so, it was also plagued by massive spoilers.

The truth is, everyone knew they were witnessing history with the MCU. The studio faithfully believed that they could keep all the secrets locked down. Disney kept the movie under wraps so much that not even journalists and critics were allowed to see it before the premiere. But even that wasn’t enough.

Back then, Marvel didn’t know the proportion the film would take, given that the level of spoilers on the internet was not what it is today. However, with hints in trailers, tidbits from interviews and promo events, as well as leaks from the staff, fans were going wild.

Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios’ president, along with the Russo Brothers, who served as both screenwriters and directors for the film, expressed their opinions on the situation. Later, when Avengers: Endgame finally premiered, fans’ requests to not see any spoilers was respected by the studio and the actors.

I wasn’t pleased. It’s not cool. It’s not fun. But the response was what I expected, which was everybody turning it off, dismissing it, ‘Don’t watch it, don’t spoil it for anybody else.’

It seems that Marvel has learned what to do from now on. It’s getting harder and harder to get information about the studio’s productions, leaving fans with only theories and the countdown until the premiere.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
