Xbox 360 has been a pioneer when it comes to digital gaming. This legendary console was launched in 2005 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. This seventh-generation console directly competed with the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. With this console came the Xbox Live Arcade, starting the trend of digital storefronts for games.

However, digital games are way more convenient than physical games, but they lose their aura when players decide to jump on newer platforms. And this is exactly what’s going to happen with this iconic console’s storefront.

According to Microsoft’s official FAQ page, the company is officially going to close the Xbox 360 storefront on Monday, July 29, 2024, after almost two decades. That means you won’t be able to purchase or download any games and DLCs on the Xbox 360 console.

However, the games, which are available in physical form or on other storefronts, are safe. Unfortunately, there are a total of 59 titles on this console, which are going to be lost forever. All of these games are not backward compatible, so there’s no way you can play them on newer-gen consoles.

Not only these games, but the storefront closure will also affect a huge variety of aspects, like tries, add-ons, avatar items, in-game purchases, subscriptions, video content in the Movies & TV app, and many more. But if you own a game, then it will be secured to play via your download history. So, it’s time for you to rush to the store and buy all those things that are going away forever.

There is a huge blow to the non-backward compatible titles. However, if you have any throwback titles on your One or Series X/S console, they are safe. Also, you will still be able to watch your purchased movies and shows on Windows 10 and 11-based systems.
