The latest game in the Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat 1, introduced the concept of Kameo Fighters. This gameplay mechanic allows players to select an additional character who will provide an assist during fights. There is a long list of Kameo characters that players can choose from but there is one character that the community hates: Kano.

A popular Mortal Kombat streamer, LOSTyGIRL, recently shared a clip from an online Mortal Kombat 1 game where a toxic player used Kano as a Kameo character, clearly proving that only cheap players like to pick this character. Kano has made an appearance in almost every major Mortal Kombat video game and it’s safe to say that many players are tired of seeing his face.

Mortal Kombat streamer LOSTyGIRL recently shared a hilarious clip on X in which a toxic Mortal Kombat 1 player gets salty after getting defeated horribly in an online match. The streamer highlighted how the player had the audacity to get abusive while using Kano as a Kameo character.

Despite being one of the classic Mortal Kombat characters, Kano isn’t exactly a fan favorite. Many players claim that the character is bland and the only reason why he gets attention is because he is a classic.

The player indeed had an embarrassing moment but this video also shows how toxic the Mortal Kombat community has become. One may argue that it’s not even Kano who is the problem, it might be the toxic players who use the character.

There are certainly many other options to choose from such as Jax Briggs, Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi), Motaro, Sektor, Sareena, Frost, Cyrax, Stryker, or Goro.

Mortal Kombat series has been one of the most popular fighting video game series for the past three decades. Everyone is excited to know what’s next and Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, recently gave fans some good news.

Unlike Kano, Scorpion and Sub-Zero are popular characters in the community and it seems like NetherRealm Studios plans to focus on these characters now.

In a recent X post, Boon revealed that if they ever work on a Shaolin Monks-style spinoff game then it would feature Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

This would certainly be a huge step forward for the Mortal Kombat franchise as it would allow them to reach a wider audience around the world. Not just new fans, but hardcore fans of the franchise would also enjoy a game that primarily focuses on Scorpion and Sub-Zero as they have been the face of the franchise for many years.

Mortal Kombat isn’t exactly one of the most popular games in the Esports world, so a game like this would also put the spotlight on the franchise. Do you think some other Mortal Kombat character deserves its own video game? Tell us in the comments!
