Spoiler Alert !!!
One Piece Episode 1112

The One Piece anime recently shocked the anime industry with the release of episode 1112 on July 14, 2024. The episode featured the battle between the Red-Haired Pirates and the Kid Pirates. Both Kid and Shanks are two of the strongest characters in the world, and fans expected that their second fight would be more interesting and entertaining.

However, while the fight certainly displayed their strengths, it took Shanks a single attack to destroy Kid along with him and his crew. This in some ways disappointed the fans, as Eiichiro Oda did not give much room to Eustass Kid and his crew, who were one of the most important characters during the Wano arc.

Although some One Piece fans are not happy with Oda’s way of bidding farewell to Kid Pirates, it is nothing compared to a comment that the mangaka made once while talking about the characters and their importance in One Piece. This comment recently surfaced back on the internet, and it has got fans worried about Eustass Kid and his crew’s future.

Eiichiro Oda’s Old Comment About Eustass Kid in One Piece

Eustass Kid and his crew were introduced during the Sabaody Archipelago arc when most of the members of the Worst Generation made an appearance in the series. From Kid’s crew, he and his ‘partner’ Killer were part of the Worst Generation, and although fans were interested in finding out more about the character, Oda didn’t have much time for him.

In SBS Volume 102, Oda was asked about the names of the other members of the Kid Pirates, but Oda’s statement made it clear that he would not give much importance to Kid’s crew.

Oda stated:

Sure. Uh, I’ll show you the rough sketches, but not of all the members. The Kid Pirates have 31 people. You don’t need to remember them! Haha.

The mangaka stated that although there are 31 members in Kid’s crew, One Piece fans do not need to remember all of them. Initially, it felt like Oda could not focus much on Kid’s crew at the time, but after the recent battle in One Piece episode 1112, it became clear that Oda already planned for Eustass Kid and his crew to be defeated before the conclusion of the story.

Eiichiro Oda’s Comment Surfaced Back Online

One Piece episode 1112, titled Clash! Shanks vs. Eustass Kid featured an epic battle between one of the strongest members of the Worst Generation and possibly the strongest Yonko crew in the entire series. However, it took Shanks less than a minute to defeat Eustass Kid and his partner Killer, which was a shocking feat for One Piece fans.

Some One Piece fans are even hopeful that Eustass Kid might make a comeback to the series in the final arc to aid Luffy in his final battle, just like he did in Wano. However, it seems unlikely as he was hit with a pretty big Divine Departure by Shanks.
