God of War tackled different mythologies that piqued the gaming community’s interest. The original trilogy heavily focused on the Gods of Olympus and the legends of Greece while the sequels moved on to the Norse lands where Kratos encountered the cruel Aesir gods.

Mythology is a fascinating subject to discuss and other major gaming studios like FromSoftware emphasized the idea in the latest Soulslike game. Certain characters from Elden Ring have deep roots and connections to godhood and some fans are curious how Kratos would react to them.

Santa Monica Studios shaped the growth of Kratos and made him one of the most relatable characters in gaming history. The Norse Saga has given the fans a different side to the character, much older and wiser, and was impressed to see him endure the voice of Heimdall in the previous God of War game. Kratos dislikes those with higher power and knows that the gods care only about themselves.

In Elden Ring, players will come across the Omen King and are curious how Kratos would react if their paths crossed.

What would Kratos, young and old, think about Morgott, the Omen King?

Morgott had an unfortunate upbringing and has that in common with Kratos. The hatred these two characters have for their families makes them relatable and grounded. Kratos made a name for himself as he ascended the ranks of the Spartan army similarly to the Omen King’s rise to power.

Family drama is something these two characters share and it impacts the rest of their lives. Kratos grew to hate his godhood and inadvertently pushed him away from his son, Atreus, who wanted nothing more but his father’s approval. The Omen King was dealt with an unfortunate hand but did the best with what was given.

Kratos developed a different understanding of his godhood that he once saw as a curse and believed to pass down to his son. Atreus has proven to his father that they can be better than those who came before them and use their gifts for the greater good.

The responsibilities of a God are not as fun as they seem to be. Despite being imbued with great powers and abilities, there is always a cost and nothing is free for the taking.

Kratos accepted his godhood and refused to let his past define him. The Omen King, on the other hand, did not let his unfortunate situation dictate his future and these attributes would be commended by the retired god.

Unlike his twin brother, Morgott remained true to the Golden Order and believed his loyalty would be rewarded. His fate was deeply misplaced after they turned their back on him for his lineage.

Kratos knew the consequences of pledging allegiances to the gods. However, considering the reasoning behind it, the retired god would likely be empathetic.

Whilst his reaction and attitude to the Omen King may be up in the air, his near-dominance of the Elden Ring universe is unquestionable, with Kratos a powerful character that would make mince meat of even the strongest foe in The Lands Between, and it’s a matchup we’re dying to see.
