Kaley Cuoco Opened Up About Awkward First S*x Scene Experience
Kaley Cuoco did not have a very pleasant experience when she had to film her first s*x scene for the comedy thriller series The Flight Attendant. Despite some intimate sequences in her past show, The Big Bang Theory.
The first episode of the show introduces Cuoco as Cassie, an alcoholic flight attendant, who ends up having a steamy adventure with a businessman Alex Sokolov, played by the Game of Thrones star Michiel Huisman.
Sharing her experience filming the scene during a Hollywood Reporter roundtable discussion, she admitted, “I had never done any sort of s*x scene ever, and I had one in Flight Attendant with Michiel [Huisman].”
The Big Bang Theory star shared that her lack of prior experience compared to Huisman, who was more seasoned in such scenes from his work on the HBO hit drama, made her visibly uncomfortable. She said,
When they called ‘cut,’ I’d be hovering over him like I was on a toilet. I’m like, ‘I’m not touching anything, I’m not looking at anything.’ (Laughs.) I didn’t know what to do.
Even with Huisman’s reassurances to ease the tension, telling her, “You’re acting so weird, you’re making this way weirder than it needs to be,” Cuoco continued to navigate through the scene with unease, grappling with the unfamiliar territory of filming intimate moments on screen.
Michiel Huisman on Filming the Awkward Intimate Scene With Kaley Cuoco
Kaley Cuoco’s co-star Michiel Huisman seemed to have a clear understanding of her discomfort, as he later shared during an interview with ITV’s This Morning.
Talking about his experience working with Cuoco, the actor shared that he initially didn’t realize Cuoco had never done a love scene before. “I guess that never happened on The Big Bang Theory,” he said.
The actor further recalled, via Yahoo,
So when we were doing a fairly decent [scene] — We’re making out on the bed, under the covers, we’re doing our first scene like that and I noticed she was sort of hovering on top of me, she’s not really sitting on my legs.
After a few takes, he realized her lack of experience and discomfort, saying, “She had no idea how to do this thing.” He further stated, “She was trying not to touch me.”
Despite initial challenges, Huisman reassured Cuoco and encouraged her to relax, leading to a successful outcome after several attempts. And The Flight Attendant has since become a pivotal show in Cuoco’s career, garnering recognition beyond The Big Bang Theory and earning acclaim for her acting prowess.
