Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece from Rockstar Games and the gaming community is still impressed with what was achieved. It was the most detailed game ever made by the developers and the modding community did not let the opportunity slide to do weird things.

The weapons provided in the Western title were accurate to what was available but that did not stop modders from taking something in the present and sending it to the past for fun. Shotguns and revolvers are deadly enough, that fans decided to add modern weaponry.

The Modding Community Added Modern Weapons to Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games is one of the leading game developers in the entire gaming industry and each project is a step up from what came before. The developers aspired to create a realistic and immersive open-world game and the work done in Red Dead Redemption 2 is only a stepping stone towards that goal.

The physics in the Red Dead Redemption prequel was cutting-edge and could be further improved for the next major game: Grand Theft Auto 6. Not everyone was interested in the game, especially since it was a period project unlike the Grand Theft Auto franchise set in modern times, it did not appeal to younger audiences.

The modding community took it upon themselves to bring something in the future to the past to increase the entertainment factor by adding new weapons ahead of their time. The weapons and gunplay were never an issue for the developers.

Players who grew accustomed to the advanced nature of guns in previous projects encountered a quick learning curve. Rockstar Games did an impressive job with how weighted and real the shooting mechanics feel but modders could not help but bring assault rifles to 1899.

GTA 5 had automatic weapons, grenades, and assault rifles while the Red Dead Redemption series relied on dynamite sticks, repeaters, and revolvers. It serves as a reminder of how far the weapons industry has come and how gaming studios want to deliver an authentic experience.

The developers can make separate games that highlight the significance of history. Apart from the obvious reasons for being set at a time before these modern inventions were even conceived, the older weapons help the playing experience feel more grounded and realistic.

The original Red Dead Redemption teaser was released years ago and no one knew what to expect, the game featured even fewer weapons but that didn’t stop it from receiving countless accolades. Modding can be fun but it can ruin what the developers envisioned and tarnish the project.

Rapid-fire weapons like Gatling guns were present but not to the extent of being able to carry them on one’s person. Rockstar Games did extensive research to deliver an accurate experience.

Perhaps the modders will continue to make more content but should be reminded to respect the intended vision. Arthur Morgan doesn’t need assault rifles to prove a point anyway.
