One Piece Chapter 1121 spoilers

One Piece fans have been questioning Shanks’ character ever since he was seen meeting the Five Elders during the Reverie arc. When the series started, Shanks was seen as a mentor figure who was trying to guide the next generation (Luffy) to achieve their dreams. However, now fans cannot build trust around him.

Although Shanks’ intentions are unknown, he has built quite a big fanbase as an Emperor of the Sea in One Piece. His fans have been hoping that Shanks would turn out to be a good character, and to support this, they have devised multiple theories that would explain Shanks’ mysterious actions in One Piece since the beginning.

One such theory was that Shanks had a twin who was a part of the world government, and he was the evil one. While there was not much evidence to support this theory, the recent revelations in the spoilers of One Piece chapter 1121 might have just confirmed that fans have been seeing two Shanks all along, and Eiichiro Oda has been hinting about it all along.

Eiichiro Oda Seemingly Confirms Shanks Has An Evil Twin

The brief summary spoilers for One Piece chapter 1121 have revealed a new character’s silhouette, who is a Figarland and holds a sword. This character was mysteriously listening to Vegapunk’s broadcast, and fans believed that this character looked like Shanks. While this might have confirmed Shanks’ evil twin theory, there have been other hints dropped by Oda.

According to _omin0us_ on Instagram, Oda has been hinting about Shanks’ evil twin all along. The theory states that the biggest aspect that hinted at Shanks’ twin was when the mangaka was asked about Shanks being two different people, and his answer was censored at the time to keep it hidden from the One Piece fans.

Secondly, when Shanks’ twin went to meet the Five Elders, they told him that considering his stature, he should not be involved in politics, which wouldn’t have been the case with Shanks as he is an Emperor of the Sea. Finally, when Shanks met Whitebeard, the former Yonko pointed out that whenever he sees Shanks, his scar aches. While initially, fans believed that he was talking about Figarland Garling, there is a good chance that he was talking about the other Shanks.

What Happens If Shanks Twin is Confirmed?

If this theory holds any credence and Shanks’ having a twin is true, it will bring a drastic change to the overall narrative of Shanks as a character and his role in the One Piece story. All the allegations against him being evil will be instantly dropped, and he will once again become the mentor figure who supposedly is following his former captain’s wishes.

Also, if Shanks really has a twin, there is a good chance that Shanks’ final battle would be against the members of his ‘family’ as he himself was a part of the World Nobles when he was taken away by Gol D. Roger. Thus, fans would get an opportunity to see Shanks fight his brother, who would possibly be as strong as Shanks.

While the theory about Shanks having an evil twin has been strengthened, there are still a lot of things that Eiichiro Oda would have to consider before introducing him into the One Piece narrative, especially now as the series is moving towards Elbaf, where Shanks might finally meet Luffy.
