The Teen Titans have always been a cherished part of the DC Universe. Acting as a more grounded take on the superheroes from the franchise, they have proven time and time again that they are more than just sidekicks and are just as capable as the Justice League. There have been many versions of the characters, ranging from movies to shows, and even comics. However, none have been as iconic as the 2003 series.

Created by Glen Murakami, this series was one of the most significant appearances for the characters. It had a huge following, and many of DC’s more hardcore fans now grew up on the classic animated series.

With all of this in mind, it is truly painful to know what the franchise did with this beloved team in their latest film, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3.

Teen Titans Gone!

Audiences had been patiently waiting for the next chapter of the DCAU, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3. The first two parts had been well-received, and considering just how iconic the story is from the comics, they could not help but want the next as soon as possible. However, when the third part was actually released, it came back with a lot more pain than anyone would have expected or prepared for.

One storyline that was particularly tragic was the fate of the original Teen Titans universe. That Earth does not only hold the characters from the 2003 series, but the characters from Teen Titans Go! are also present. Knowing this, it was very painful to watch what the film did to them.

By the end of the movie, every beloved character from those shows was killed, and the entire universe ceased to exist.

Fans Refuse To Believe It

It is safe to say that audiences were deeply upset when the entire universe of two of their beloved shows was completely destroyed. Taking to X, they voice how upset they were with DC and Warner Bros.’ decision to do such a thing. Some fans even refused to believe it, finding the reality to be far too painful for them to handle.

While the characters did die in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3, many pointed out that the multiverse has been erased multiple times within the franchise. Many are aware that the storylines like these are woven within the project itself. However, they do not have any impact on shows and movies all across the franchise.

In the recently released film, it was made clear that only one universe exists now and every character only has one variant. If this were the case, the rest of the DC Universe, including comics and their live-action projects, would have to exist there itself. Since this is not the case, fans can rest a little easier.
