The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows is everything Ubisoft fanatics are talking about right now, and while much of it might just be about the controversy surrounding the protagonist, a new discussion has popped in.
Taking from the previous installments in the franchise, the coming title is sure to take in some aspects of parkour and stealth. But what many fans have been looking forward to is the implementation of naval battles, a feature that was witnessed in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and got released into a separate game as a whole with the release of Skulls and Bones earlier this year.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows – What Is Ubisoft Missing Out On
With games like Black Flag, Sea of Thieves, and Skulls and Bones, it is easy to observe the theme of sailing the high seas and living the glorious pirate life have been all the hype in the world of gaming in the past decade.
This is also the reason why a user on a Reddit forum for the upcoming game was left disappointed when they discovered it would potentially not have open ship battles and similar mechanics, calling it ‘wasted potential’.

The user further urged the studio to make sure to add meaningful quests to the game, giving it some personality and a reason for gamers to actually play with the character of Yasuke before they eventually move on to Noeoe.
The Controversy Around Yasuke – Is This the End for the Assassin’s Creed Franchise?
Playing an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan, especially during its feudal era, has been the dream of many gamers ever since their first venture with the video game series, which is why it is not surprising many were met with disappointment when Ubisoft first revealed about the upcoming game and its protagonists.
While there is nothing particularly wrong with Yasuke, many believe it challenges the historical accuracy the franchise has always strived for, something which will be compromised with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, bearing in mind it is still argued if he was a real samurai or not.
Slated for release in November this year, fans are looking forward to the studio finally giving in and introducing a change to the game, which remains unlikely due to it being a last-minute decision for a title that has possibly been in development for years now.
