Tom Cruise does another deadly stunt for his next Mission: Impossible outing and fans cannot admire the man enough. After the most death-defying stunt in his career in Mission: Impossible 7, Cruise was recently seen hanging from a yellow Stearman biplane. Cruise was filming a scene for the sequel to Dead Reckoning alongside actor Esai Morales in Oxfordshire.
Fans showered the actor with praises for undertaking such risky endeavors even at this age. He just turned 62 this July and has shown no hint of backing down from what he loves doing the most. The untitled MI film will be out in theaters next year.
Tom Cruise’s Deadly Plane Stunt In Mission: Impossible 8 Earns Him Fan Admiration
Tom Cruise is currently filming Mission: Impossible 8 in Oxfordshire. He was captured performing some deadly stunts on a flying plane on Monday. The daring stunt involved the Top Gun actor hanging from the side of a plane as it flew upside down. A pilot, wearing all green, was seen flying the plane, who would probably be removed from the final scene.
Esai Morales, who plays the terrorist Gabriel in Dead Reckoning, returns in this film and is seen riding in the backseat of the plane. Cruise had his pilot licence since 1994 and the yellow Stearman biplane appeared not challenging enough for him. Daily Mail UK released the photos of the dangerous stunt from the film and it was widely publicized on social media.
One fan on X shared that the Eyes Wide Shut actor, despite his age, was never too old for such dangerous stunts. Another fan appreciated his dedication to performing his own stunts in the movie. One fan shared that they didn’t know how the actor was going to cope anymore after he was done with the dangerous stunts.
One fan shared that no matter how many ropes were holding on to them, they would never dare do such a stunt. Another fan expressed concern for the safety of the actor, sharing that the production team took a big risk for the scene. Some of the fan reactions read:

When this is over I don't know how he's gonna cope anymore. Probably switch to serial killing to fill the void💀

But certainly the production team has safety apparatus in place
The production of the film began way back in 2022 as it was intended to be shot back-to-back with Dead Reckoning. However, the production came to a halt when the cast engaged in the promotion of the seventh film. The cast & crew returned for filming but the production was once again suspended in July 2023 due to the strikes. The production finally resumed this March.
Tom Cruise Looks To Top His Scary Bike Stunt in Mission: Impossible 7
The filming of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning kickstarted with Tom Cruise jumping off a cliff on a bike. It was one of the most dangerous stunts in his career so far and Cruise’s explanation as to why he scheduled it on the first day will blow your mind.
Speaking to ET, Cruise casually shared that he didn’t want to hurt the $200 million+ production if he got severely injured or died because of the stunt. He shared:
Well we know either we will continue with the film or we’re not. Let’s know day one! Let us know day one what is going to happen: Do we all continue or is it a major rewrite?
While Cruise’s intention to not waste money was noble, his statement sounded scary to many fans. However, the actor was not just putting himself in a reckless situation. He shared that he prepped hard for the scene and just wanted to be done with the scene and have his mind somewhere else while shooting the rest of the film.
It is up to fans to decide whether he topped his bike stunt with his current plane stunt. However, it might take a while as the film won’t come out until May 23, 2025. All Mission: Impossible films are now available for streaming on Paramount+.
