From Homelander’s repeated emotional breakdown to Billy Butcher’s battle against his tumor as well as the imaginary Joe Kessler, Season 4 had all its characters struggling from several situations. While every bit of it was not interesting enough for the fans to stay hooked on the show, the finale managed to tie several loose ends and tease a solid setup for the fifth and final season.

Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles turned out to be one of the most fan-favorite characters from The Boys. Fans formulated several theories for the character’s return to Season 4 before Episode 8 finally revealed him to be in a coma state, locked away far from society.

Season 3 introduced Soldier Boy as a major weapon for The Boys to use against Homelander. He made an agreement that the group would give him intel on the Payback members (who betrayed him and handed him to the Russians) and he would help them to kill Antony Starr‘s supe in return.

But things went against the plans when Soldier Boy went against Homelander and his son Ryan at the end of the season. Seeing Ryan in danger, Butcher and The Boys forgot the deal and tried to stop Soldier Boy. As he began to activate his nuclear ability for a final fight, Queen Maeve, who also sided with The Boys, directly went against him, and with an explosion, the two fell to their apparent death.

Later it was revealed that both the parties survived. While Queen Maeve lost her powers (the primary effect of Soldier Boy’s radiation) and started a normal life with her girlfriend, secluded from everyone, Soldier Boy was seen to be locked away in a state of coma.

It must be noted that Ashley Barrett also played a prominent role in letting Queen Maeve survive as she deleted the camera footage of her being saved. Previously, Eric Kripke has stated to TVLine that the show would not end without showing Maeve again.

It can be undoubtedly stated that Maeve’s survival also cemented the return of Soldier Boy before the show’s conclusion. Nonetheless, things are only going to get worse as the Season 4 finale setting up superheroes at the top of the hierarchy can lead the father-son duo to team up against The Boys in this battle of superheroes against the world.

Ashley Barrett can play a key role in The Boys Season 5

When Ashley Barrett was first introduced in The Boys, she was the assistant to Madelyn Stillwell. The Colby Minifie character descended more into insanity as she rose in her Vought professional career. However, she is also deeply affected by everything she has endured during her reign in the superhero company and the fourth season’s finale suggests that we may see her become one of the major assets for our Boys.

Ashley Barrett is largely a symbol of the difficulties one has to face working for Vought. But some of her feats like saving Queen Maeve proved that she also has a compassionate side to her. A fan rightfully commented on YouTube:

The one selfless thing Ashley has done. After being nothing but a corporate puppet following every rule and demand she’s given, it’s great to see that she’s not completely controlled and still has the heart to do the right thing.

In the Season 4 finale, we witnessed Ashley Barrett injecting herself with Compound V after overhearing the Seven’s plan to end everyone who tried to spill dirt on them. As the Vought CEO injected the V, we were shown that something horrific was happening to her bald head.

The Amazon Prime show has already stated that she suffered from trichotillomania, a mental condition that forces an individual to pull out their hair. As Ashley Barrett is not in the comics, it is tough to predict her superpowers. Looking at a glimpse of her deformed brain, it can be sensed that she may develop powers like Marvel’s Leader. Or we may also see something happening with her hair, making her a direct parody of Marvel’s Inhuman Medusa.

It can be undoubtedly stated that she may join A-Train in Season 6 and they can be significant allies to The Boys in their final endgame against Homelander and Soldier Boy.

The Boys can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
