These issue can be rectified with a quick patch, and it appears to be affecting only Xbox consoles. The problem is selective, as not everyone with the console is dealing with brightness fluctuations. A44 Games should address the issue soon, though, as players may decide to jump onto another game if no quick resolution is provided.

The brightness problem may be the latest, but it’s not the only performance issue fans of the game have spotted so far. Fast-paced and aggressive combat is one of its major features, but fans have pointed out Flintlock’s combat can be far more responsive, claiming it is impossible to interrupt animations.

Bloodborne, a title that seems to have inspired the combat in the game, offered some of the most responsive controls of Souls-like games to date, and that’s what many are comparing it to. FromSoftware’s entire approach to combat changed after the release of its game, and it showed the world that Souls-like titles don’t have to follow the sword-and-shield formula every time.

Animation cancellation is a crucial feature in games that require quick movement. Dodging is imperative in the game, but it is impossible to use the skill, as animations can’t be canceled. Animation traps not only reduce player agency, but it also feels like the game has not been designed with combat in mind.
