However, after watching in-game footage, players seem to be worried about something, it’s not about the firepower, the tactical prowess, or even the survival of their characters. It is about the safety of the non-player characters (NPCs) who work alongside them.

In Helldivers 2, Super Earth gives players various missions to complete as they are playing the role of elite soldiers. They are trained to defend humanity from various alien attacks, to help with this, players are given state-of-the-art weaponry and gear.

Yet, amongst the fast-paced missions and chaos of battle, some of the keen-eyed players have noticed an oversight from the Super Earth, the complete absence of safety equipment for the NPCs.

Recently, a Reddit User, ObieDobie, found in-game hidden camera footage, which showed the footage of NPCs working on machines (wielding) near explosive ammunition but they didn’t have any safety equipment like glasses or even harnesses. This really annoyed the whole community as they are now demanding to add safety gear for these citizens.

(Hidden camera footage) Our welders have absolutely no safety equiments. Isn’t this a gross OSHA violation?!?! This is happening in every one of our Super Destroyers. Please contact proper authorities so we can prevent possible accidents in the future. :(

Arrowhead Game Studios is known for its dedication to the game’s narrative and gameplay experience. They have already made changes by removing a few military bases and turning them into campgrounds for young citizens. So players are hopeful that they will add safety equipment for the NPC workers in the super destroyers as well (in future updates).

As the Helldivers 2 community eagerly awaits these updates, the discussion around NPC safety shows how gaming has changed and shaped our societal values. This also highlights that the Helldivers 2 lore is so immersive that players are pushing the boundaries of what it means to immerse themselves in a virtual universe.

In the end, players continue to enjoy and find themselves connected to the game’s world more than ever. Also, never forget to spread Democracy.
