Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter by NetEase, isn’t having a smooth transition from its alpha to the first beta test. Many players have found themselves unable to log into the game with Steam giving them a message that says the product code was revoked by the publisher.
While it would be pretty funny, this has nothing to do with the recent CrowdStrike outage. Just a case of mistakes within the game’s management. Many players who passed the required level 10 during the Closed Alpha found their access revoked.
Marvel Rivals Beta Players Are Facing This One Big Problem
The confusion mainly came from miscommunications about the level requirements. Players who participated in the closed alpha test of the game and had reached the required account level of 10 found their access to the Marvel Rivals beta revoked.

Miller Ross, a prominent journalist, voiced his frustration on social media. He revealed that his access to Marvel Rivals on Steam was revoked despite reaching account level 18. Ross’s case is not isolated as other players reported facing the same issues. Some have speculated about targeted revokes or mistakes in the system’s execution.
Reddit user SUPERN0VAhere shared a similar story. The user posted a notification received on Steam that revoked their access to the beta test. Despite completing the Battle Pass and reaching level 18, they still got caught in the misfire. Other players in the comments also mentioned that they were facing the same issue.

Developed by NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals aims to stand out in the saturated hero shooter market with its cast of Marvel characters. The market for these games is a very rough one. Even Concord, Sony’s entry into the genre has not been faring well in its own open beta which is currently running.
Good Player Experience for a Game in a Saturated Market
Interestingly, the beta test problems coincided with a global issue involving CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm whose recent update caused worldwide problems. However, the Marvel Rivals login issues were unrelated to this.

The official Marvel Rivals Discord has also been filled with player complaints regarding the issue. Many fans are asking if there’s anything that can be done. The moderators have attempted to manage the influx, advising affected players to submit screenshots and their Steam IDs.
They also reported that there are many players who think they reached account level 10 but it’s actually just their battle pass level. While it’s possible that some players are just taking advantage of a problem to cheat their way into beta, the problem itself is very real.
The game’s first Closed Beta Test begins on July 23, 2024, and will feature free access on Steam for a limited number of players. Fans can also watch livestreams on Twitch from July 25 to July 28 to get keys for the Closed Beta.
