Before his rise to fame with his charming smile at the center of it all, Glen Powell played the role of a stockbroker in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises. While he didn’t have a combination scene with Christian Bale, Powell got to interact with the villain, Bane, played by Tom Hardy.

During the promotion of Netflix’s Hit Man, Powell took to the streets and interacted with the people, even inviting two of them to debate about the best Batman actor. Powell then went on to ask them whether they remembered Bane hitting the head of this “super sexy stockbroker” in The Dark Knight Rises (via Instagram). He revealed that it was him to the amusement of the two women.

The Anyone But You actor is credited as Trader #1 for this blink-and-miss role in the film. In one scene, Bane invades the Gotham Stock Market and approaches Powell who works there. When Powell’s character tells him that there’s no money to steal there, Bane drags him by his tie and slams his head into a keyboard.

During an interview with DiscussingFilm, Powell shared his proud experience of working on Spy Kids 3D and The Dark Knight Rises. He particularly remembered his scene with Tom Hardy with fondness. He shared with DiscussingFilm:

I’m really proud to be part of Spy Kids 3-D… and [with] The Dark Knight Rises, getting my head smashed by Bane, if nothing ever happened in my career, at least I got my a** kicked by Bane!

According to Variety, Powell’s new outing is projected to end the weekend with $74 million in box office earnings. It is all set to become the highest-grossing film in Powell’s career. At this point in his career, another great opportunity might also be heading his way.

Glen Powell may get a chance to complete the full circle from a supporting actor in The Dark Knight films to the lead actor in a Batman film. He is currently one of the frontrunners for the role of Batman in DCU. While fan discussions have been going on for some time on the topic, one recent hint from the actor has strengthened the suspicions.

Several fan pages, including the X page @JeremyJLop, have reported that the actor has started following DC CEO James Gunn and The Brave and the Bold director Andy Muschietti. While it might be nothing, fans believe some kind of deal has been brokered in the background. Interestingly, Powell’s Twisters also stars Gunn’s Superman actor David Corenswet.

Taking on the Batman role is a big challenge for the actor since he has to follow in the footsteps of greats like Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. It is made even more difficult by the fact that Robert Pattinson portrays a brilliant version of the character in Elseworlds’ The Batman.

The Dark Knight Rises is now available for streaming on Max.
