Taylor Swift is probably not going to appear in Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine but he believes she has directorial skills like Steven Spielberg. Levy and Swift had previously worked together, but he had an acting job and Swift was the director in her music video All Too Well. After closely observing her filmmaking, Levy is sure that she will shine in her directorial debut.

Shawn Levy has collaborated with the legendary Steven Spielberg for Real Steel, starring Hugh Jackman. Spielberg was a producer and Levy was the director of the futuristic movie that dealt with wrestling robots. Having observed his filmmaking style and Taylor Swift‘s style, Levy has found some common points.
Earlier, Searchlight Pictures announced that Swift was collaborating with the production house for her directorial debut (via Variety). When asked about whether she reached out to him for any tips, Levy responded to EW, “Taylor has not consulted me about upcoming directing projects, but I think she has the makings of a hell of a director.”
But he shared that Spielberg gave him a great insight into filmmaking about trusting one’s instinct. He shared that he saw the same instincts in Swift and added that the Cruel Summer singer had figured out really well not to doubt herself in her creative process. Levy shared with EW:
Spielberg was on the set of a movie he produced that I directed, called Real Steel, and I said to him, ‘How do you know it’s the right shot?’ His answer was, ‘The way you see it, that makes it right.’ I feel like that’s something Taylor Swift has figured out really well, because that’s about trusting your instinct.
The Adam Project director went on to call Swift a “generational voice and creative force” and shared that only a few other artists had her depth of vision when it comes to a creative piece. Levy also added that the Anti-Hero singer had the “strength of her convictions”.

Shawn Levy’s four daughters aged 13 to 25 are all huge Swifties, including the director himself. When he got called to play Swift’s father role in All Too Well, he did one thing that may have got him the ‘Best Dad Forever’ title. He shared with PEOPLE that he was able to bring all four of them along. Levy shared:
When she asked me to be in the video for ‘All Too Well,’ and I was able to bring all four daughters to be in that video with me, I got dad cred for life. It was a very fun day.
He may have also found the right group of friends for his daughters to brag about. He was seen alongside Swift, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman, and Sophie Turner at Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs-New York Jets game last year. The celebrity group also sparked rumors of Swift playing a role in Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
According to EW, Swift is not a part of the ensemble film, but fans are not ready to give up hope yet. Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on this 26th.
