Akira Toriyama has created a huge and ever-expanding Dragon Ball verse, giving fans the perfect opportunity to churn out as many theories as they want. Some of them might be improbable, but others are impressive enough to make you stop and zone out for a few minutes.
One such theory is about Majin Buu, the beloved pink balloon of a villain from Dragon Ball. Majin Buu was one of the toughest Dragon Ball antagonists and has caused much intrigue among fans. A fan theory suggests that Buu might just be the perfect candidate to be the God of Destruction. In fact, he might have been one.
Dragon Ball‘s Majin Buu is the Perfect God of Destruction Material
Majin Buu has several forms in Dragon Ball, ranging from Kid Buu, and Innocent Buu, all the way to the ultimate antagonist, Evil Buu. His very last evil transformation was Super Boo, which resulted from Evil Buu absorbing its counterpart, Good Buu.
This form of Buu has little to no patience and is extremely dangerous. His fits of anger could even cause him to rip through dimensional walls. He also takes sadistic pleasure in fear, suffering, and the destruction he causes. In his pure form, Majin Buu is obsessed with destroying everything he can, regardless of who or what it is. This tendency is very similar to a God of Destruction’s love for chaos and devastation.
Beerus, Universe 7’s God of Destruction, also reflects some similar traits. His indifference towards death, and little to no care about the billions of lives he has taken stands parallel to Majin Buu’s nature. Beerus is also hot-headed and can be angered very easily, triggering a need for carnage.
Moreover, Majin Buu also shows phases of destruction and hibernation much like Beerus who loves lazing around when he is not required to fix anything. (Of course that is owed to his cat-like nature)
Is Majin Buu the Original God of Destruction?
While many consider Bibidi to be the creator of Majin Buu, such is not the case. Bibidi simply awakened the purely evil Majin Buu, who has existed since times immemorial. A fan theory thus suggests that Majin Buu is the original God of Destruction since no one knows when he was created. The title of the God of Destruction is not attached to a single being and can be transferred. It is possible that Majin Buu was also a God of Destruction once and he simply left the post or was overpowered by another.
The fan theory proposes that Majin Buu was the original God of Destruction, who was created to simply destroy everything. Bibidi learned how to awaken and control Buu to some extent with the intention that he would let Buu loose on the Kais. Bibidi’s ultimate goal might have been to destroy both the God of Destruction and the Grand Supreme Kai since their lives are linked.
All in all, Majin Buu’s origin and history could be explained via this theory. He is an overpowered creature who is in a completely different league, and his presence is shocking in Dragon Ball. Thus, his being a former God of Destruction will finally make sense as to why such an overpowered creature exists.
