Xbox is launching new hardware, and while it may not be the next generation of consoles, it still has the community buzzing with excitement. With the release of Deadpool & Wolverine just days away, the company is cashing in on the hype with a brand new controller.

It’s a limited edition run, and some fans are frustrated that they may not get their hands on the component. For now, it can only be acquired by completing a challenge that not everyone can participate in, leading many fans to demand a retail release.

Merchandising is one of the best ways that companies build hype for an upcoming IP about to launch.

Whether it’s the various collector’s editions for games, bundle deals for albums, or special signed editions for books, the goal is to get as many people into the excitement as possible. The new Wolverine Xbox controller is sure to turn some heads and clench some cheeks.

It’s not the first posterior to grace the Xbox controller series, as the first release featured the rump of Deadpool.

To make sure his adamantium-based best bub wasn’t feeling left out, we now have a similar device, only with a yellow and blue color scheme. The red version was also locked behind a contest, so this is the second time fans will feel they missed out.

The contest itself is a bit tricky. To enter the #MicrosoftCheekySweepstakes, fans must find an X post from Microsoft using that hashtag and repost it through their handle to count as an entry. While the process itself isn’t difficult, many fans would prefer the option of purchasing the controller.

The frustration is evident, as the chances of acquiring the controller are slim and dictated entirely by luck. There may be a revenue-boosting option here if the company releases both controllers on the market, which may have been the plan all along.

Unfortunately, for now, fans of the movie and Microsoft users have only one way to get their hands on these limited-edition controllers.

Xbox Fans Compare Game Pass with PlayStation Plus

The controller may be something the fans want from the company, but they are critiquing other moves it has made recently as well.

The latest one concerns the price increase of Game Pass and how it is now compared to PlayStation Plus. Many feel that the latter is improving its offerings and is slowly becoming the better option.

It wasn’t just the price tag for the service that saw change recently, as several titles are also not going to appear unless players opt for the higher tiers in the service. This has ruffled many feathers, as the appeal of Game Pass was that every subscriber got access to even day-one releases.

The decision to change this might be bad for the company, which could lose subscribers if they see the service is not offering enough value. Xbox must consider fan feedback on recent decisions to ensure the subscriber base sticks around.
