If you’re a die-hard fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, you’re not going to like this major change in the next installment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Every major Assassin’s Creed game until Assassin’s Creed Mirage played an animation after players climbed to a particular vantage point and synchronized a viewpoint.
As soon as players synchronize, the camera pans out and spins around the player, giving them a proper view of the open world. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has decided to get rid of this animation for Assassin’s Creed Shadows and fans are not happy about it.
Ubisoft Has Removed A Fan-Favorite Feature From Assassin’s Creed Shadows
A fan on the r/AssassinsCreed subreddit has pointed out that Ubisoft made a mistake by removing the Viewpoint Synchronization Animation from the next Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
They didn’t have to cut the spinning animation when you synchronise a view point in AC Shadows

Viewpoint Synchronization requires players to climb to the top of the building or tower. Once synchronized, the map simply gets defogged, revealing nearby points of interest and unlocking fast travel points, indeed providing players with a unique and fun way to uncover the map.
Many players suggested that Ubisoft could’ve added an option to skip the animation instead of removing it since many players found it interesting.
Viewpoint Synchronization Animation Has Been In Every Assassin’s Creed Game
One of the main reasons why players are disappointed is because this animation has been a staple of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Although it was small and insignificant, it added a unique touch to the game.
With every Assassin’s Creed game, the animation only got better. 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is often praised by the community for having the best Viewpoint Synchronization Animation in the series. Unfortunately, 2022’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the last game in the series to have this unique animation.
There is a lot of anticipation for Assassin’s Creed Shadows but its controversial contents have also damaged its reputation in the gaming industry. Nonetheless, it’s safe to say that hardcore fans of the franchise can’t wait to play the game as Shadows is the first game in the series to be set in Japan during the Sengoku period.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, macOS, and iPadOS on November 15, 2024. Do you think Ubisoft made a mistake by removing the viewpoint synchronization animation? Share your views in the comments!
