The Dragon Ball franchise is divided into multiple series. Dragon Ball was the first, while Dragon Ball DAIMA is the upcoming one. Akira Toriyama’s magnum opus is considered to be the Godfather of the Big Three of anime. But there are moments when fans were unsatisfied with the franchise. One such instance was with Dragon Ball GT. On top of that, it was not done by the late Akira Toriyama.
Dragon Ball GT has a weird plot, and the fans often complain about it. Late Toriyama sensei sent a heartfelt message to the anime’s fans, but the ending left them bamboozled. Even after almost three decades of its release, no one seems to have found the reason behind it. The anime remains the only one not to live up to the expectations.
Dragon Ball GT’s Ending Was Not Up To The Mark

Dragon Ball GT happens ten years after Dragon Ball Z. While training, he is suddenly reverted to his child form, courtesy of Emperor Pilaf. To return to his former self, he must collect the Star Dragon Balls within a year. His granddaughter, Pan, and Trunks aid him on his journey. There were several promising villains, but none of them could live up to their potential.

The fans had difficulty finding peace with the ending. He had to fight evil Tuffle Baby and Super 17. Omega Shenron was his final opponent. Goku defeated him with a giant Spirit Bomb. But then, the Saiyan bids farewell to his family and friends and rides off to Shenron. The ending did not sit well with the fans. Super Saiyan 4 was the only good thing about the series.

The anime had only 64 episodes. Often, it felt rushed and missed several crucuial elements. Late Toriyama sensei created multiple episodes of Goku vs. Frieza fight. He takes his time with everything, which is why his endings leave a mark. DB GT could have been a great anime if there were proper explanations. More detailing and why Goku suddenly decided to ride off to Shenron, even though he just returned to his family, would have greatly helped it.
Late Akira Toriyama Is An Admirer Of Dragon Ball GT
After Dragon Ball GT’s release, he sent a heartfelt message addressed to all the fans who bought the DVDs. He mentioned leaving everything to the staff after Dragon Ball Z since he was tired. The animator, Nakatsuru-kun, quickly picked up his art style. Even the creator found it difficult to point out the differences.

He concluded his message by saying that it was a great side story to his initial creation. He wants everyone to enjoy the show just like he did. The Dragon Ball franchise is his child, so he is bound to love it. But as for the fans, they will appreciate it, if they like the show or disparage it if it is not worth their time.
Dragon Ball GT remains the only anime of the franchise that the late Toriyama sensei did not work. On the other hand, he worked on Dragon Ball Super, which became a massive success. It proves that even if the mangaka held his co-workers in high regard, the fans only cared about the former’s work.
Dragon Ball GT can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
