Deadpool & Wolverine is almost upon us, and it promises to save the MCU from the recent rut that it has created for itself. Excitement has been apparent for this one since months and months, which is most notably down to the return of Hugh Jackman as the fan-favorite Wolverine.

While the series in itself will also see the introduction of X-Men, and almost certainly has a range of surprises up its sleeves for fans, one of them, hints at the return of a character who has already featured in one singular MCU movie. That is, none other than Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, which is down to one hilarious hint that Ryan Reynolds himself might have included as part of a recently-released trailer.

The latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, released on July 19, once again focussed most prominently on the kind of brotherhood that the two titular superheroes will be seen sharing. A heartbroken Wolverine begins to explain how he is not the hero Deadpool believes him to be, as Ryan Reynolds struggles to explain exactly why it is that Jackman’s claw-wielding madman is his final hope for saving his loved ones.

The odd two-minute watch finished with a car scene, which sees Deadpool in his elements, pretending to spew web from his wrists. Wolverine eventually loses patience and asks his friend to ‘stop it,’ and while the scene in itself might not mean much, if it does, it points to a return of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

After all, one of the aspects that have been well-discussed in the MCU already is how only Maguire’s Spider-Man has the ability to naturally shoot web from his wrists. Both of the other live-action Spider-Men, those of Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, use technological aids in order to shoot the web.

That not only stunned the two Peter Parkers when they found out in No Way Home, but may also potentially be linked to the little scene in the latest trailer of Deadpool & Wolverine. Yes, it might be just straws that we are grasping at, but it wil not be a huge surprise if the scene was added as a slight hint for fans, with Deadpool & Wolverine just days away from its release.

Deadpool & Wolverine has limitless possibilities, and only the release will confirm what it has in store

While the MCU has seen the release of multiple of its past movies being seen as major events by fans worldwide, Deadpool & Wolverine has a chance to exceed everything that has been seen in the franchise to date. The trailers, despite keeping mum largely with respect to the plot, have given a slew of details about the narrative which only suggests the existence of multiple surprises for fans.

Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier’s twin sister, is set to be the villain, and has created some sort of multiversal disturbance which has led to Reynolds’ Deadpool struggling to find his own teammates in order to save his world. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and the various Deadpool variants apart, the trailers have already confirmed the existence of multiple mutants, which the latest even seeing Wolverine mention the likes of Scott Summers, Storm, and Beast, all of whom have seemingly perished in this Wolverin’s world.

Furthermore, the existence of Cassandra Nova, Ant-Man’s huge head, Cable, Toad, and a range of other mutants means that the OG X-Men are bound to be on their way to the MCU as well. And while Wolverine may rank high among this group, there are simply a number of characters, and due to them, unlimited possibilities, with respect to Deadpool & Wolverine.

Hence, as things stand, we shall not be surprised if Tobey Maguire ambles along in the same movie as well. The same can virtually be said about a majority of MCU characters, and it only depends on the kind of narrative that is in store for fans, as things stand.
