The studio which brought fans Helldivers 2 is looking to address a significant drop in players. Taking to social media, the developers are hoping that their plans for the title will win back some of those fans who have decided to put down their weapons in the battle for democracy.
Taking the world by storm when it first launched back in February, there are many who are of the opinion that this a game of the year contender. However, with the PlayStation controversy in May and the various bugs which players have had to contend with, numbers have taken a sharp drop. Well, Arrowhead are looking win those players back with their latest plans.
Helldivers 2 Looking To Entice Fans Back
In the recent announcement on X/Twitter, Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedt along with Design Director Niklas Malmborg gave fans a teaser of what they can expect with the Escalation of Freedom update which is due out next month.

This promises to be the biggest update to date for the game and in addition to the new difficulty level being announced, there is also mention of other exciting plans. There are new bugs and bots to take on, along with larger enemy outposts and new mission objectives promise to bring excitement to the game.
Pilestedt maintains that since the game first launched, the studio have made significant improvements to the game and went on to list the various content that players have enjoyed so far. However, it is the latest update which he promises to be ‘special‘ and the the studio have asked the question of players – ‘Do you have what it takes, Helldiver?‘
Heading 2 Fans React to Latest Update

At first glance, it appears that many Helldivers 2 fans are positive regarding the announcement and those who have left the game are contemplating returning just to check this out. So it would seem that Arrowhead’s ongoing work could help address the drop in player numbers.
On the other hand, there are those fans who are still disappointed with the balance updates and certain weapons being nerfed. Unfortunately, as with many popular live-service games, you can’t please everyone and there are those players you can’t win over.
It’s clear that Arrowhead are looking to address the falling numbers with the latest Helldivers 2 update and judging by the comments from fans on social media, there are many who would return. However, some fans are of the opinion that the studio is simply papering over the visible cracks the game has.
