Meanwhile, a new trailer has also been released for the film, which omits one of the most important scenes from the previously released trailer. The latter had a scene showing an assassination attempt being made on the life of President Ross. However, the scene was likely removed in light of recent political events, and here is everything you need to know about it.

New Captain America 4 Trailer Removes the Footage of President Ross’ Assassination Attempt

Captain America: Brave New World marks the fourth MCU film focused on the titular hero. However, actor Anthony Mackie will be taking over the mantle this time as the film explores Sam Wilson’s journey.

A full trailer for the movie was recently released by Marvel Entertainment, which shed light on an important plot point. The film will feature Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the newly elected President of the USA.

However, the original trailer showed super soldier Isaiah Bradley attempting to assassinate President Ross. The footage has now been removed from a newer trailer, which was released by Marvel India, alongside regional dub variants of the trailer.

In the new footage, the attempted assassination isn’t evident but the US Secret Service can be seen chasing after Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley after he assaults one of the Secret Service members. The shooting of President Ross has been replaced with more footage of Bradley’s escape in the aftermath of the incident.

The Attack on Donald Trump Might Have Affected the New Captain America 4 Footage

The new altered trailer seems to result from the real-world political events recently unfolding amidst the US Presidential election race. While it is likely that the new trailer was bound to be released to promote the regional dub variants of the upcoming movie, the assassination scene was rightly cut out.

On July 13, 2024, an attempt was made to assassinate Republican Presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump. The incident left Trump with a wounded ear while the perpetrator was killed on the spot. As a result, the scene of Bradley attempting to assassinate President Ross and escaping might have proven extremely controversial in the current climate.

Furthermore, Captain America 4 had previously faced backlash because of its original title’s political implications. At the same time, the film was criticized for including Sabra, an Israeli superhero from the comics, amid the ongoing Israel–Hamas war.

On the other hand, the assassination scene’s inclusion would likely have drawn ire from Trump supporters in an already heated political landscape. Ultimately, it is understandable that the makers wanted to avoid any further political controversy, leading to the omission of the scene from the new trailer.

Captain America: Brave New World is slated to release on February 14, 2025
