Deadpool & Wolverine is just days away from release and as far as the critic reviews from its early screening are to be considered it does not look as promising as was anticipated to be. Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ first MCU flick, has enjoyed a brilliant marketing campaign and all its teasers and rumors seem to have set it for a blockbuster phenomenon.
Yet, the early critical reviews have so far been disappointing and it currently ranks lower than DC’s super flop, The Flash. A hard-to-digest fact, even fans are in disbelief over the shocking reviews.
Deadpool & Wolverine Ranks Lower Than The Flash Per Critic Reviews
Hugh Jackman had hung up his adamantium claws after the blockbuster Logan. But when it was revealed that he would return once again as Wolverine along with Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool in a movie set within the MCU, fans had some big expectations and so far they have been fulfilled through the many teasers and trailers that have been released.
However, Deadpool & Wolverine just had its premiere and early screening, and so far the critical reviews have not been as brilliant as one might expect. While the film has 79% on Rotten Tomatoes from 130 critic reviews, it fares worse on Metacritic. On Metacritic, based on 44 critic reviews, the film so far only has a score of 54.
A shocking feat, this makes the film rank lower than DC’s last year’s failure and one of its biggest flops, The Flash. The Michael Keaton-starrer flick currently has 55 metascore on Metacritic, while its score on other sites is lower than that of Jackman’s MCU entry.
Despite the disappointing reviews, it will be interesting to see how the audiences respond, since so far, the film has broken several records with its promotions and marketing. Having broken the first-day ticket sales for AMC months before its release (via THR) and its trailer being the most-watched movie trailer of all time (via Variety), only time will tell how the film will fare at the global box office.
Fans in Disbelief over Deadpool & Wolverine’s Low Critic Scores
The initial critical reviews have caused a bit of a stir among fans and movie enthusiasts, many of whom have been waiting desperately for Deadpool & Wolverine. While the critical reviews have generated a significant buzz and curiosity among the fans and public, many on the internet are not pleased with critic ratings, especially on Metacritic.
It often happens that a film might have the worst critical reviews but ends up performing exceedingly well at the box office and vice-versa. So when the early critic reviews of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ MCU entry went viral, fans are not ready to believe these ratings and remained firm on their decision to watch the flick.

With the film expected to make $360 million at its global opening (via Deadline), fan reactions suggest that gone are the days when critical reviews changed the tide of public opinion. Even if the film is as disappointing as some critics claim it to be, the iconic team-up of Wolverine and Deadpool is enough to draw viewers to the big screen.
Given the immense popularity of both Deadpool and Wolverine as characters, along with the star power of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, it might be safe to say that the film will outperform DC’s The Flash and might even save the MCU from its recent box office setbacks. As the release date is just hours away, fans are firm in their belief that the film is going to be a banger!
