Although Alicent’s sons, Aegon II and Aemond have been major players in the conflict, her youngest son has been completely absent from the narrative. However, the sixth episode of season 2 finally confirmed his whereabouts and also revealed one attribute of the missing son that sets him apart from his brothers. Here is what you need to know about Alicent’s missing son and why his personality is an insult to her.

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 Finally Confirms One Missing Targaryen Family Member

In House of the Dragon season 2, Aegon II and Aemond Targaryen take center stage while their mother, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), is sidelined from the politics of King’s Landing. However, the sixth episode introduced another one of Alicent’s sons, Daeron Targaryen.

In the episode, Alicent learns about her and Viserys’ youngest son, who is being raised away from the Red Keep, in Oldtown. Alicent’s brother, Gwayne Hightower, informs her about the upbringing of Daeron, who has grown up to be a clever and kind teenager.

In the books, Alicent and Viserys had three sons and one daughter. However, the youngest son, Daeron, was missing from the television adaptation. While Daeron does not appear in the episode, he is confirmed to be a teenager in Oldtown.

According to the source material, Daeron was sent to be a squire to Alicent’s cousin, Lord Ormund Hightower when he was twelve years old. Therefore, it makes sense that Daeron wasn’t previously mentioned following the massive time jump in the show’s first season.

House of the Dragon Fans React to the Greatest Burn For Olivia Cooke’s Alicent Hightower

After the revelation of Daeron being raised in Oldtown and away from his brothers’ brutality and mother’s twisted politics, fans quickly reacted to the fact that Alicent’s youngest son had grown up to be the kindest of the lot.

Here is what fans had to say about the revelation of Daeron being kinder than his siblings in House of the Dragon on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans of the series feel Daeron is likely kinder than his siblings because he isn’t raised by Alicent. Thus, Daeron’s contrasting personality was a sick burn on Alicent’s parenting. They also felt that Alicent’s greed and political ambitions resulted in the spoilt upbringing of Aegon II and Aemond.

Furthermore, fans also blamed Alicent for the Targaryen family civil war, especially since she fostered hatred towards Rhaenyra’s children, which was eventually picked up by Aegon II and Aemond. As a result, fans questioned Alicent’s parenting and declared her a complete failure as a mother following the latest episode.
