When it was announced that Timothée Chalamet will be starring in A Complete Unknown, fans were already half sold about the project. It isn’t everyday that you get to see a biopic about the Like a Rolling Stone singer. Add that to the acting prowess of the Call Me By Your Name star, and you’re set to have a combination that is set to enthrall fans. But fans should not ignore another powerhouse who is also behind the making of the movie – James Mangold. To movie connieseurs, the name of the Logan director is enough proof of how good the movie ought to be.
A Complete Unknown is about to take fans on a journey for the ages
With the trailer of A Complete Unknown officially out, fans got their first glimpse at Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan. While his acting was something to behold, for many fans his rendition of A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall was the cherry on the top. The anticipation really is sky high for the Timothée Chalamet starrer.
The French Despatch star will be joined by the likes of Monica Barbaro, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Boyd Holbrook, who will all be essaying important roles in the film. And they have quite the task at their hands. After all doing justice to a Bob Dylan biopic will not be an easy task by any means. But this ensemble might just do that.
James Mangold’s genius was what made A Complete Unknown the sensation it (will) turn out to be
Catalyst to A Complete Unknown’s success will be the genius of James Mangold. Timothée Chalamet might have walked with most of the plaudits following the release of the trailer, but the Mangold effect was wrought large on the movie. It takes audacity to tell the subject of a biopic what the story will be about. The 60-year-old belongs to a rare breed that can do that.
To Mangold, the idea that such a gifted personality shows up to New York with only a meagre amount was so astonishing. The opportunity, the inspiration. And he took his time working on the bounds of the project. That was not the only time though when he took control of the project. The director has moulded the story in a certain direction, ensuring that every star in the ensemble had a meaningful arc. That was something he had in mind (and something we’ll get to appreciate when the movie officially releases).
Fans rally behind James Mangold to guide A Complete Unknown to success
James Mangold was the man behind Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash biopic. So this ain’t his first rodeo at the life of a renowned singer. A user shared a comment on the trailer,
“Crazy to think that James Mangold has made the biopics of both Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan!”
Another commented,
“‘From the Director of Walk The Line’
Awesome to think that James Mangold who has handled Johnny Cash’s story is now given the task to handle Bob Dylan’s story.”
No wonder the expectations are sky high after the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director was roped in for the movie. A YouTube user commented,
“The 1960s musical cinematic universe is here thanks to James Mangold who’ll bring the gold, man…”
Another wrote,
“The fact that James Mangold directs it almost guarantees it is going to be a good movie.”
Things do seem to be going down the right track for the flick. Fans are already pinning their hopes high from the project. Whether they are justified or not will become clear when A Complete Unknown hits the theatre.
