Recently, Arrowhead Game Studios revealed the next step in the Helldivers 2 journey, which will be in the form of a major update titled Escalation of Freedom.
This new update will bring all kinds of content for players to enjoy, like new game modes, new weapons, no planet biomes, and so much more, but there is one announcement that has players both excited and horrified as they create some rather gruesome scenarios regarding a new Terminid mission.
Helldivers 2 Brings in a Terminid Larva and It Is Both Cute and Potentially Deadly
As said above, there were plenty of reveals within the Escalation of Freedom teaser, but one tease took the players hearts away as it was revealed that a new mission will task us with escorting a Terminid Larva to extraction in a new mission type.
Although this little creature looks adorable and would likely be a pet of choice for many Helldivers who are looking to adopt a deadly Terminid. There are those who have already taken a dark turn with this little creature.
Sadly, it has come to the attention of the Helldivers 2 player base that the likely reason we will be tasked with capturing this little creature is so that Super Earth scientists can get their horrifying hands on it.
For those following the lore, it isn’t a big stretch to believe this could happen, as Super Earth has already allowed research into creating black holes that led to the implosion of a planet, so why wouldn’t it be a stretch to experiment on a Terminid?
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that Super Earth has underestimated the Terminids and tested their resolve, leading many players to fear that this new mission could lead to a new Terminid mutation or even something much worse.
Arrowhead Game Studios Has Been Known to Throw Us Some Curve Balls; Could This Also Be One?
In the past, Arrowhead Game Studios has allowed the gaming community to take part in missions that have ultimately changed the course of Helldivers 2 entirely, such as the mission in which the players attempted to gas the Terminids, leading to the Shrieker mutation.
Due to this, players feel that this new mission type could lead to a potential catastrophe. For example, one player believes that this mission could lead us to bring these Larva to a planet closer to Super Earth, or to Super Earth itself.
Potentially leading to an outbreak so close to home that could eventually lead to us fighting the Terminids on multiple fronts, just like the Automatons, which are currently splitting up.
Unfortunately, we do not know the consequences of this mission type as of now as the update isn’t due to release until August 6th, but knowing Game Master Joel, we should be very wary of our future decisions.
What do you think about this new Terminid Larva? Do you think it will become a major threat in Helldivers 2 further down the line? Let us know in the comments what you think!
